CAROLYN LEFEVRE ALEXANDER  
Of Bethesda, MD, Age 93, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, peacefully passed away February 28, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles J. Alexander, and is survived by her five loving children and their spouses, Lynn Alexander (Cindy) of Rockville, MD, Susan H. Alexander (Jim Gammill) of Belmont, MA, James A. Alexander (Lynn) of Chevy Chase, MD, John C. Alexander (Gretchen) and Robert M. Alexander (Melchora) of Potomac, MD; 13 cherished grandchildren, four great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Lois Alexander, and three nieces.She was born in Baltimore, MD, but spent the whole of her life in Washington, DC, and the surrounding area. She graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 1946 and in 1950 graduated with highest honors from Wellesley College, where she met her future husband at the Halloween mixer her freshman year. They were married in 1951 and remained inseparable soulmates until his death in 2012. After graduation from college, she and her husband returned to Washington, DC and she worked at the Congressional Quarterly, until taking a break to raise her five children. During these years, she was an active PTA volunteer at each of her children's schools, served as PTA President of Bethesda Elementary and Pyle Junior High, tutored students for whom English was a second language, served as team mom for numerous youth football teams, and was a long-term parishioner, vestry member, lay eucharistic minister, and devoted Sunday school teacher at All Saints Church, Chevy Chase, MD. After her youngest children entered high school, she taught and served as Chair of the Social Studies Department at the Chelsea School for 20 years. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 3 Chevy Chase Circle, Chevy Chase, MD 20815.
