Jeffrey A. Rys

1963 - 2015

Jeffrey A. Rys, age 52, died peacefully but unexpectedly at his home in California on Sept. 23, 2015. He was the loving son of Colleen Price-Herring of Bridgewater and Little Compton and Frederick Rys of Harwich and step son of Joanne Rys also of Harwich. Jeff was born on March 23, 1963 and grew up in Mansfield. He was a graduate of Mansfield High School, Class of 1981 and after the University of Richmond where he majored in physics and theology Jeff started his career in CA. He was a licensed Electrical Contractor and owner of Rys Electric. He loved running, swimming, biking, and participating in marathons and triathlons. Jeff was happiest when he was fishing with his father and brother on the cape and while spending the month of August in Westport/Little Compton. Jeffrey was a kind, loving Christian man and will be missed by many. He is survived by his loving wife Linda of California, his loving brother Andrew Rys and his wife Justina of Taunton, and his niece Carmen and his nephew Frederick | Jeff was proud to be their loving God Father! Step brother of Stephen Herring of VA, Chris Begley of Lunenburg and Kevin Begley of Mansfield, and Katie Fischer of Attelboro. Nephew of and God Son of James Price of Fall River, and nephew of Kenneth and Paula Rys of NH, and Helen Snelling of MN. He was the loving grandson of the late Rita Price and Jennie and Fred Rys. Also survived by many cousins and friends. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Fri. Oct. 9 at St. Basils Chapel, 122 Park Ave. (BSU), Bridgewater at 10:00 a.m. with a celebration of life held at the Fire Side Restaurant immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Basils Chapel, 122 Park Ave., Bridgewater MA 02324. Services were also held at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in CA where Jeffrey was a volunteer and tutor at the Stockton Gospel Rescue Mission.
