Francis Allen Obituary

YORK Francis Joseph Allen, II passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011, at the Hershey Medical Center. Born in York, on August 16, 1945, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Jane Carr Allen. Francis was a U.S. Army veteran, who served four years during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Wichita State University and attended Mt. St. Mary's Seminary. He was an employee of the Memorial Hospital Security Department and retired in 2007. Francis was also the Author of the book "Concrete Battleship Fort Drum El Fraile Manila Bay". He will be sadly missed by his wife of 30 years, Dawn Barley Allen. He is also survived by his in-laws, Richard and Barbara Barley; a sister, Joan Workmaster of Rochester, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, David Barley and wife, Carol; nephews, Wallace Workmaster, Douglas Workmaster, Michael Barley and wife, Nicole, and Steven Barley and companion, Amy Caplinger; and niece, Beth Ann Workmaster. Funeral services will be conducted privately and at the family's convenience under the direction of the Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home of Harrisburg. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center, Voluntary Service Office Building, 18 First Floor, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042; or the SPCA c/o Development, 350 E.
