As most people know, Dan and Terry opened their Belmar home to all family and friends both far and near, and did so regardless of whatever may have been going on in their personal lives. Utilizing a sincerity befitting of saints, Dan and Terry made their home a welcoming beacon for whomever traveled to the New Jersey shore! The entire Hennessy "clan" accepted Dan in the beginning almost seamlessly from what I could tell from afar, and although there surely were times of trepidation, ultimately going to Terry and Dans became a rite of passage or virtual ritual from Thanksgiving through Labor Day! Most people would say their favorite holiday and summer memories are accented by their presence in the company of Terry and Dan. Please know our thoughts are with all of the extended Gendel and Hennessy family as you navigate these upcoming days with the loss of Dan and that the tremendous outpouring of compassion you all obviously have for Dan is very much noticed and clearly sincere! And one more thing, my last memory of Dan was a big smile on his face. Even though we all certainly will face more trials and tribulations in the future, always try to keep his memory alive with recalling his wit and humor as well as his immense gift of caring and generosity to almost anyone to whom he opened his home! You are all blessed with what Dan himself said was the thing that made him happiest - the love and companionship of family. And in my humble opinion, yours is one of the best! Love ya all!
