I met Thomas at an oil painting class at the Atlanta College of Art one summer. That fall Thomas and 2 other friends we made there, joined me at Dykes HS. I never saw him again after he left Dykes but I'll never forget the great adventures the 4 of us had while he was there. He was mysterious, caring and intelligent. It seemed he remained that way always...

Thomas, You were truly one of a kind. Your trip to Tulsa and to Pryor was fun for all involved. You helpd send out letters when my husband was running for the legislature. You made a BIG DEAL with the envelopes and we had many kind comments. Not every candidate had hand caligrophy printed thank you note envelopes.
Rest now and know that you will be missed by all who knew and loved you.
Sincerely,
Charlene & Bill Kendrick

I worked for Garthys dad in the 70's and helped him move into a house at Middle Georgia College. I would love to hear from any family members that may remember way back then. His dad was always so proud of him.

Thomas,
My long term friend and loved one...carry on with your light and without the pain and dissappointments. If you find instant inspiration and bask in love, you've earned it, my friend. If you are hanging out with us for a bit, pranks have always been welcome. Among other treasures, you gave me a button that said "Take me to Paris" as you know I do so love it there. It was attached to a $2.00 bill folded as a Thunderbird and clasped to one of the many beautiful Valkyrie cards you sent to me.
As you wrote: "Loving and longingly missing you {to death.)"

The obituary of Thomas is indeed a glowing tribute to this rather remarkable human being. His kindness and gentile manners will always be a lesson to us. Let's perform "random acts of kindness" in his memory. May God's peace be with you Thomas!

Dearest TJH IIII,
Long may you run. You're forever the finest kind. Thanks for the sparkling memories. Thanks for the white linen suits, kimonos, kilts and for being the ultimate Southern gentleman. And now, we'll always remember your Thomas-isms: the "Children's Hour", Ya-ta-hey, pinky swears, Kelley's Pool Hall, "we don't talk about that", Harvey, wasabi, shark fin dumplings, logistics, "watch your bangs", "a tip o' the hat", "clean and pure", "Realism, Baby", your table at the Place on Paces, the Buckhead Pool Hall, Hedgens, Dante's, Canoe and the Blue Ridge Grill. There are so, so many things you said and did that will live on among all your many friends and family. Sweet dreams. Love you; miss you.
