Carlos Duran Obituary
Carlos Victor Duran, 54 - passed away peacefully on October 19, 2011. Born in Phoenix, AZ on Dec. 3, 1956, he was the youngest of Anna and Tony Duran's four children. Affectionately known as "Los", he was a kind and gentle soul who loved to laugh and was always fun to be around. Following high school, he took an interest in music and began teaching himself to play the drums. He pursued that dream as a founding member of local band Those Fabulous Lum Bros. and continued playing music right up to the end. He will be missed. Carlos was preceded in death by his father, Tony Duran Sr., his mother, Anna Duran, and his older brother, Tony Duran Jr. He is survived by his sisters Kathy (husband Arthur "Zippy") Killeen and Diana Shugrue. A memorial mass/service in celebration of his life will be held at St. Gregory Catholic Church ( 3424 N. 18th Ave Phoenix, Az ) at 3:00 PM on Friday, November 4th, 2011. In lieu of flowers, family members suggest a donation in his name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.

I'll never forget the day you asked my mother if you could marry me. We were in 4th grade. We had a lot of good times. You were the best kisser when we played Spin the Bottle. Those were the days!
You were a blessing to many and you will be greatly missed.

My sympathy and prayers to his sister's....my mother Virgie Garcia Sanchez was a friend of Tony and Anna's since childhood...she loved loved, loved your mom and dad and I remember as children seeing all the Duran kids..I know Carlos will be deeply missed...condolences to Kathy and Diana and your entire family.. My deepest condolences to his family.
Carlos was a very close friend of many years ago. In 7th grade Los and I competed for the position of end on Mr Gorriaz's football team....Los beat me out. I can remember coming in to see him and his primo play at Char's...The Lum Brothers were a great band.
Los and I didn't see much of each other over the last 25 years...the last time I saw him may have been at the downtown Tap Room, but every time I saw him he always greeted me with that ear to ear smile of his as if it was just yesterday that we saw each other.
The world will be bit lesser of a place without you Los.
