Edward Rogel, age 89, of Kingman, Ariz., died on May 14, 2010. He was born in LaSalle, Ill., and had lived in Arizona for the past 22 years. His parents were Hattie and Louis Rogel of Watervliet. He is survived by his brother, Alex Rogel of Torch Lake, Mich., his three sons, James of Phoenix, Ariz., Donald of Surprise, Ariz., and Laurence of Corrales, N.M.; and his five grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Christine, Megan and Kaitlin. He served in the Marine Corps infantry during World War II (Feb. 22, 1943-April 22, 1945). He fought in the Pacific Theater and was wounded during the Battle of Iwo Jima and received a Purple Heart. He was actively involved in agriculture from 1948-1962. He then worked at Rogel Lincoln-Mercury, Watervliet from 1962-1975 and was a top salesman in 1966-68. He continued his career at Rogel Brothers Auto Sales, Watervliet with his two sons, James and Donald. He retired in 1986. Edward is remembered and loved by his family for being a "warrior with a gentle heart." Funeral arrangements will be handled by Heritage Sunwest Funeral Home, 12525 NW Grand Ave., El Mirage, Ariz. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 20. The funeral mass will be held at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Surprise, at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 21, followed by the burial in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 1 p.m. A memorial fund has been set up, contributions to it may be sent to Edward J.
