Eric Cedarstrom Obituary

Eric Cedarstrom

Good morning and welcome to the final edition of the Eric Cedarstrom show. The fact that you're all gathered here today means that my tank is now on "E."

I've been consigned somewhere over the golf course, my favorite place to relax.

They tell me I must put some background information in this or they won't print it, ok to be precise "they" didn't tell me…. my wife did.

I married the love of my life Lori on July 23, 1988. We have two of the most amazing girls that taught me more lessons than I can recall. Still living the dream: Daughter Ericka and Son in law Cody Pinkerton and two granddaughters Emma and Ava. When we were blessed with two granddaughters Emma and Ava; had I known grandkids were this much fun, we would have opted to have them first. Daughter Leanne and Son in law Taylor Neu- all of which are my pride and joy. My beautiful sister Laura Bridwell, lovable brother Craig Cedarstrom, and their beautiful families. Now you can find me "frumpling" in Heaven with my brother Jim and sister Christine.

Let's not forget my real pride and joy- my minpin Polly, which just so you know I was going to list her first, but thought it might really upset my wife. All my dogs were loyal, kind, and unlike my kids, never talked back to me.

Born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 11th, 1959 to James and Carol Cedarstrom. I would like to add that this was the best year ever, because during that time, the Cadillac Eldorado Baritz Convertible rolled off the assembly line and that happens to be my dream car. From Des Moines, Iowa our family moved to Scottsdale AZ in 1964 and that's where the lessons of life began.

I want to share some of those with you today. Just like my favorite muscle shirt that said "Livin' The Dream"- here is the lesson I learned while doing so:

1. When you sneak into Legend City amusement park - you can ride those rides at night for free.

2. You can't cross the Verde river in a high rider 4x4 without frying a fish on the exhaust.

3. When you hear a diesel truck screaming up your driveway and you realize it's your future Father-In-Law coming to put the fear of life into you- you learn about commitment very quickly.

4. When you're Steele head fishing during record cold weather in the Pacific Northwest, thinking you can out-fish your wife… I learned quickly that was a pipe dream.

5. When you have the love of a lab, a woman at your side, and family and friends that surround you in every way no matter what stupid things you pull……your life is fulfilled.

6. When it's 85 degrees in Scottsdale and 20 below in Washington, Alaska, Idaho, and Minnesota; all the relatives will jockey for a spot in your driveway to park for the winter. Will the last coach out of Minnesota please turn off the lights?

7. Whippets is not just a golf betting game you play on the course to take your buddies money… it's what you do to the kids on the tube behind the boat at Roosevelt Lake.

8. If you want to learn humility, respect, compassion, tenderness and love then coach girls softball for 14 plus years.

9. Do a back flip off the dive rock in the pool every year- even when you turn 60.

10. The best breakfast on earth is your Mother-In-Law's biscuits and gravy. (IF she really likes you, then she'll give you extra bacon.)

11. If you get attacked by a pack of clowns…. go for the juggler.

Things I learned to love and cherish in my life:

Playing around with grandkids is more fun when you're riding quads, making sock puppets, playing snake and chicken, and watching you tube videos that start with lab puppies and end with tsunamis. When they start to cry or whine- you send them back home.

My goal was to own and drive every American muscle car ever built. I've owned about every one in my life and restored countless Chevy trucks. Making old new again. Just pin stripe it.

Dislikes: people you couldn't trust, warm beer (although if that's all you have be thankful), and hot tuna casserole for dinner. Just thought I'd throw that in there so you wouldn't think my whole life was all roses.

I loved every minute on this earth. In my time here, I have learned to master the Irish exit…. therefore, go out and make it a great day. Put a smile on your face, a song in your heart and a pep in your step.

This is Eric Cedarstrom signing off…………. We'll be back after these messages.

Memorial Services will be held at Highlands Church, Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 10:00am. Donations can be made to Luckydoganimalrescue.org

First bought gold from Eric and his brother in 2005, Joe was there too.
Loved the Radio show with Eric, the best part of my day during the housing crisis... Just loved it..
Joe will remember me, I talked them into helping me get a plane with a Ron Paul message lit up at night over Phoenix one new years eve..it flew over here from Cali... They are as nutty as I am... Watching on YouTube a show from 2019... audio only...Eric and Joe in perfect form..
Missing the past... Bless Eric,Joe and anyone that was fortunate enough to hear them Love You, Steve Coombs

The crazier things get, the advice put forth by Eric is more cogent than ever. Bet he would be shaking his head about things these days!

Eric was my stepbrother. We worked in the gold business together. Both of us young at the time and enjoying some fun times. We drifted apart and for that I am very disappointed in myself. Eric was loaded with personality and a good heart. I'm very happy he became such a wonderful husband and father. I miss him and think of him and his brother Jim often.

I have pictures of Eric from when I picked up my gold and I keep it on my phone and run across it often and say thanks Eric for his advice. Told me to sell my home if I wanted to just before 2008. So this ain´t about me. Thank you Eric, I will always remember you.

The final message he left, for everyone to share, gave a thought provoking smile in my heart and true words to live by. His words made me take and inter/introspective look upon my own life and say, "how can I live like that?"

He was a father, husband, grandfather, father-in-law, coach, mentor and many more.
Active, motivator, comedian, positive force, caring, loving...

I remember as a kid, I was fascinated with his wisdom, loved how happy he made everyone feel around him, how welcomed I felt and the technical skills he taught, as a coach, in an attentively detailed and charismatic way.

When you're young and dont originally have a strong male leader, you search for one. Fortunately, I have been blessed to have many great, strong leaders in my life and read about the greats.

Eric is one of the greats that will live on forever in many peoples hearts, whether that be; coaching, radio, friends or family.

I didn't know him as an adult, but this is what I remember of him.

However short of time it was, he and your family laid a footprint in my mind forever.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my prayers/thoughts.

Ever since the week of Thanksgiving 2005, I absolutely could not wait to hear the wit and wisdom of Eric on his radio show, the Patriot Radio Newshour! I laughed thousands of laughs with Eric and Joe and these are treasures I shall never forget. It was this morning that I heard of Eric's passing and I am so very sorry. My heart is breaking and I send my Deepest Sympathies and Sincerest Condolences to the Cedarstrom Family and Friends. Eric shall be missed. Be at Peace Eric. Thank you for the laughs!

Hey Ho, blowing and drifting sunshine, hole in the ceiling studio, 3 fingers in my coffee cup for Jack Daniel's Friday, the 'Greece' fire, snapping and popping joints training for his 400 lb. bench press, Ben Bernanke and the Fed, bacon, old cars and other tales from the desert. What a shock! After a six month hiatus from the PTG website due to dealing with my own issues during this pandemic, I was not prepared for the news of Eric's passing. I stumbled upon his radio show many years ago and was hooked within a few minutes. Eric and Joe made me laugh and brightened my days. His message was always crystal clear: "Live your life surrounded by family and friends". His voice changed slightly when he talked about Lori, his daughters and the rest of his family. This conveyed to me the deep love, pride and respect he felt for them. To Lori and his entire family, I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences.

God Bless

I listened to Eric on the radio for a number of years and would always laugh out loud at his jokes and his humor. His radio broadcast was something I looked forward to everyday. I was generally astounded to hear his predictions, and then later on watch them come true. He was a visionary and could see things in the future that most of could not. I look forward to hearing his radio broadcast when I pass to the other side.

Our loss and Heaven's gain. Listened to Eric on the radio during the 90's while commuting in the Denver area. He could tell it to you straight, no matter how dire the message, and have you laughing so hard you practically forgot what the topic was about. In our business dealings, he delivered on his promises. What a wonderful legacy and example he left for the rest of us. He will be missed.

Our hearts are broken at the loss of this great guy. He was a visionary, intellect, "sit-down comedian", and truly a super person to do business with. Have been clients of the Patriot Trading Group for more years than we can remember. We were just young pups when we first bought our first gold from Eric and are now retired and grateful to have listened to this dynamic man. Have enjoyed listening to Eric for years and can't express how much we will miss Eric's quirky personality and common sense views, which are almost scary at how much they have come true. We love you Eric and will see you on God's golf course in the sky, knocking in those hole in one shots.

"Eric", as many of your PTG friends and clients will always remember you... practicing your GOD-GIVEN
Vocation of Restoring THE ALMIGHTY'S "Just Weights
And Measures" back to the common man...

PROVERBS 11:1 "Dishonest scales
are an abomination to the LORD,
But a just weight is HIS delight." (NKJ Version)

Personally, I will always cherish our 22-year friendship, Eric... and the legacy you leave behind of Patriot Trading Group's integrity and sound professional insights. God Speed you to your Heavenly Bliss.

Mr Cedarstrom,
Very shocked and saddened to hear of your much too early passing.
I didn't know you but listening to you on the radio for past 15 or so years I certainly felt as though I did. If affecting the lives of others in a positive way is how our lives are measured then you were and always will be among the biggest. Your incredible humor brightened many days and many comments will forever live in my heart. I owe part of my financial security to you and for that I'll be forever grateful.

You'll never be forgotten.

With love and respect from New Jersey

Eric lived life to its fullest. I loved his smile and his laughter, and the way he loved Lori and his daughters and grandchildren was evident in everything he did. He had such a big, kind heart; and was so very smart. We shared many good times with Eric and Lori over the last 20 years on trips we would make to Scottsdale. Always an invite to dinner at their home or a restaurant nearby. He would occasionally stay with Franz and I at our place on a couple of his trips to Colorado, and we always enjoyed his company. He will truly be missed, as he was a great friend.

Really going to miss the dulcet tones and sense of humor only Eric had on the radio. I'm glad I got to meet him in person. Came up to the shop last year and met and talked to Eric and Joe. And Eric? I shall not forget to put 2 fingers of Jack in the coffee. In your honor. Cheers. And Happy Trails.

I moved into the house across the street from Eric, a house he used to own, in September 2017. As soon as we met I knew he was one of those rare, special people who light up a room. He and Lori welcomed me into the neighborhood - I knew if I ever needed anything, he would be the person I could call. They invited me to Thanksgiving where I was able to share the touching experience of the family surprising him with the news his daughter was expecting. His reaction was priceless, showing how much he loved and cherished his family. Eric was an amazing man who will be missed by all who's lives he touched.

He had me at "Hey Ho!"
20 years later without missing a day, from a log cabin in Alaska to "blowing and drifting sunshine" in Arizona, I owe my financial security to Eric who treated me more as a friend than a customer. I grieve for Lori and his daughters for whom he broadcast his Love to the world. I grieve for Sarah his niece who introduced Joe to Eric and changed radio history. Last but certainly not least, I grieve for Joe who together with Eric made everyday better while making us better. God Bless you and grant you the strength to carry on as you so bravely are. Eric's work was finished here. His reward is great. May you feel his peace. Thank you, Eric, for giving me a reason to wake up in the morning. You have left us in good hands. May God's Perpetual Light shine upon you. Amen

Eric lived big, was successful, jovial and generous much like an old friend of mine who also passed way too young. I met him nine years ago via my wife Wendy to whom he gave a career with his business as office manager over two decades ago. We attended many social affairs at his home including two wedding receptions. I have never seen her so distraught as the morning she learned of his passing. He will be missed and remembered by many - including myself.

22 years of working with you was the best job I ever had. Every morning you came in you said “ Morning Dinkie” with a big smile. That was on my license plate when you hired me. Double income no kids. My heart is broken that I will never hear you say it again. You were the best and You will always be in my heart.
