64, of Peoria passed away on November 2, 2016. Galen was born October 3, 1952 in Phoenix to Edward and Ellen Yoder. Galen is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vera, their two children, John and Erica, and one grandson, Jacob. Galen is also survived by his three brothers Mike, Steve (Joanne), and Phil (Debbie), and his sister Saralyn. After graduating from Hesston College in Hesston, Kansas, Galen returned to Arizona and worked in air conditioning service, owning and operating his own business, JEM Air Conditioning, from 1975 until his death. Galen was an avid hiker, biker and runner and felt his native Arizona to be the best place for all activities - he especially enjoyed hiking in the Grand Canyon, spending at least one week every year on an extended backpacking trip with friends, not to mention the multiple day-hikes he would complete, including rim-to-rim-to-rim hikes. Galen was an active member of Copper Hills Church in Peoria and loved spending time with his church family (especially if that time could include a hike). Galen and Vera also served with Northwest Valley Young Life. Services will be held Saturday, November 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Copper Hills Church, 27035 Black Rock Blvd. in Peoria.
