Donald Eugene Rhoades, 80, of Clear Lake, TX, the son of Frank and Ruth Heatherington Rhoades, was born September 3, 1932 in Shreveport, LA. He died Sunday, July 7, 2013, in his home in Clear Lake.
Don attended school in Shreveport, LA and graduated from C.E. Byrd High School. He attended college at LSU where he graduated in 1955 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Don married Dorothy Hamm in 1957. They had two children: a son, Randy and a daughter, Linda. Linda preceded him in death in 1970 followed Dorothy in 1982.
Don worked as an engineer at NASA. While there he helped design the Lunar Module Communications System for Apollo 5-11. He was a brilliant engineer, a wonderful husband, a good father, and a genuinely nice person.
In 1983 Don married Anna Lee Hickman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and three brothers.
In addition to his wife, Anna Lee, Don is survived by one son, Randy and his wife Pam; stepdaughters Debra and Sherri; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one unborn great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

I still remember Don fondly. Don contributed his valued technical expertise to the successful operation of the Lunar Module Communications System during Apollo. May God bless you on this anniversary of his passing.

I still remember Don fondly. Especially during this 6th anniversary of his passing, since this year is the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11. Don contributed his valued technical expertise to the successful operation of the Lunar Module Communications System for Apollo 11. May God bless you on this anniversary of his passing.

I'm so sorry to hear about Don. I worked with him during the Apollo Program on the Lunar Module Communications System. He was a great engineer and pleasant to work with. I know he will be missed. May God bless you during this time of sorrow.
