Gerald E. Rhoades, 95, of New Castle passed away at Glen Oaks Health Campus on Sunday, February 22, 2026. He was born in Whittier, California on January 12, 1931 to Orval and Verna (Jensen) Rhoades.
Gerald was a 1949 graduate of Lewisville High School. He retired from the Shadeland Plant of Chrysler Corporation in 1988 after 34 ½ years of dedicated service. Gerald was a farmer in the Lewisville area for many years and was a long-time member of the New Castle First Church of the Nazarene.
Those left to cherish Geralds memory are 3 nieces, Marilyn (Mark) Higgins of Indianapolis, Janet (Mike) Rhodes of Indianapolis and Marla "Jo" (Paul) Heavilin of Ft. Wayne; 3 nephews, David (Claire) Rhoades of Florida, Steve (Debbie) Rhoades of Iron, Michigan and Randy (Sherri) Rhoades of Guthrie Center, Iowa; several great nieces and great nephews and his caregivers: Rosemary Conley of Lewisville and Don Onstott of Milton.
In addition to his parents Gerald was preceded in death by two brothers, Rev. Ronald Rhoades and Benson Rhoades.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jimmy Southerland officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
