Danny Carver Obituary
November 8, 1942 - January 7, 2024
Charlotte, North Carolina - With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Danny Carver, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Danny left us peacefully on January 7, 2024, at the age of 81.
Born in Mebane, NC, on November 8, 1942, Danny was much more than his notable achievements in basketball and softball. He was a man of many passions, with a particular love for golf, playing cards, and above all, his family.
Danny's athletic prowess saw him inducted into the Pfeiffer University Sports Hall of Fame for his exceptional basketball performance during the 1963-65 seasons. Beyond his collegiate success, Danny was a committed coach and a dedicated employee at Aetna Life & Casualty for 26 years. In 1974, he played a pivotal role in leading Aetna's softball team to a national championship and was named to the All World Team after participating in 125 games. His true passion, however, lay in playing golf, a sport he enjoyed at the Carolina Golf Club, sharing many rounds and tournaments with his wife Kathy.
Danny's legacy is cherished by his family. He was a loving husband to Kathy, and remembered fondly by his late daughter Bonnie's family - her son Josh, his wife Megan, and their son Mason. His daughter Angela Martin and her husband Mike, along with their children Ryan Smith and his wife Hope, their daughters Peyton and Olivia, and Ciara Albright, her husband Paul, and their son Bryce, will miss his wisdom and love.
Kathy's side of the family also held a special place in his heart, including step-son Rich, his wife Jamie, and their children Stella, Scarlett, and Sanders; step-son Andy, his wife Brittany, and their daughters Serafina and Violet; and step-son Robby, his wife Megan, and their children London, Eloise, Charlotte, and George.
A memorial service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home (Matthews), 3700 Forest Lawn Dr, Weddington, NC 28104 at 3pm on Saturday, January 13, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, https://www.heart.org/en/get-involved or the Pfeiffer University Athletic Department, https://www.pfeiffer.edu/alumni/support-pfeiffer causes close to Danny's heart.
Danny's life was a tapestry of commitment, passion, and love, interwoven into the lives of his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be profoundly missed and eternally remembered.

Danny and I played basketball at Louisburg College. He was a fine person and terrific player.

Danny has family in the Piedmont. He was the son of my great uncle JD and its sad to read of his passing. My father said he was a very good ball player. Many of his uncles and cousins were/are known for their ball playing basketball, softball and baseball.

I am saddened by his passing. Danny was a next door neighbor in our first homes in the Bridlewood subdivision.. We worked together at Aetna, played golf and softball together and had many many great times at work and in the neighborhood. He was a special person in so many ways. My fond memories of Danny and his family are too numerous to mention here but I am proud to say he was my friend
