Sad to learn of the recent passing of John, who I fondly called "Cousin John" as my family was related to Aunt Perry Dunlap Roddy in Rock Hill, S. C. My mother was Elizabeth "Libba" White Girard, also a Sharon Towers Resident who passed away in Sept. 2011 age age 94. Julie, I am also a friend of Marcia Wiedeman and I believe her father Bill Wilkerson was a friend of your dad's. My condolences to you and all your family. Florence Girard Sparks

devastating, and now we must give up John. Betty died in 2008; she wouuld have grtieved with me over John's death. But we are left with the happiest memories of dinners with the Roddeys--Laura's "tiramisu" and John's sparkling wit and philosophical musings. My deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences to the bereaved family.

John is the man I want to be like. He loved his church and the people who make up the church. He was always in a greeting mood. I will always remember his bright, warm and inviting smile.

Thinking of your family now and in the days to come.

John and I first became friends when we worked together at American Trust's East Morehead Branch in the 1950's. I last saw him at my Mother's funeral in 2003. He was always such a pleasure to be around. I shall always have fond memories of him!

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
