Mr. Michael Gene Farlin Sr.

1946 - 2009

Michael Gene Farlin, Sr. was born November 9, 1946 in Clarinda, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Helen (Lasley) Farlin. He passed away on Wednesday morning, December 2, 2009 at his home in Clarinda, Iowa at the age of 63 years and 23 days.

Mike grew up in Villisca until his family moved to Clarinda in 1958. He attended school in Clarinda and graduated from Clarinda High School in 1965. He attended college for a year and served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. On December 12, 1969, Mike was united in marriage to Caroline Kinser in Clarinda, Iowa.

This union was blessed with two children, Mike, Jr. and Tiffany. Mike worked as a mechanic and exhaust man for Charlie Richardson at Johnson Tire and for Paul Swanson. In November 1989 he opened his own shop and operated it until December 2001. He enjoyed antique cars and being outside. He especially enjoyed camping, fishing and barbequing.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline Farlin of Clarinda, Iowa; his children, Mikey Farlin and his wife Tracey of Clarinda, Iowa, Tiffany Wood and her husband Nick of Braddyville, Iowa; five grandchildren, Mackenzie Farlin of Clarinda, Iowa, Trevor and Skylar Shane, Payton and Brody Wood all of Braddyville, Iowa; sister, Carol Hunt and her husband Paul of Clarinda, Iowa; father-in-law D.A. Kinser of Red Oak, Iowa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sandy Wynne and her husband Dan of Jacksonville, Florida, Bob Kinser and his wife Jan of Stanton, Iowa, Bobbi Copeland and her husband Jim of Clarinda, Iowa, Darwin Kinser and his wife Connie of Red Oak, Iowa; along with many other relatives and friends.
