Michael Gless Obituary

Michael Gless, age 66, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. He was born on August 28, 1957, in Whidbey Island, Washington, to Richard and Audrey Gless. Michael graduated from George C Marshall High School in Falls Church, VA, in 1975 and Virginia Tech in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He was a proud Hokie.

While at Virginia Tech, he met Desiree Anne Archambault, whom he married in December 1980 in Arlington, Virginia. Together, they built a life in Sterling, Virginia, and later relocated to Highlands Ranch, Colorado, in 1996. They raised two children: a daughter, Monique Renée, and a son, Derek Michael.

Throughout his career, Michael worked as a dedicated project manager in the energy, engineering, and aerospace fields, retiring in February 2024. He and Desiree were looking forward to a long and happy retirement together.

Michael had a passion for sports. He played varsity football in high school, and he particularly loved cheering on the New England Patriots. He was an avid music fan and enjoyed seeing live music whenever possible. He loved to bike, cook, and spend time with their two beloved cats, Allie and Josie.

Michael's kind and patient soul touched the lives of many. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Desiree Gless, his children Monique and Derek Gless, his brother Richard Gless of California, and many extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be planned for later in the year to celebrate Michael's life and the impact he had on those around him. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered with love.

Mark and I are so shocked and saddened to hear about this. We loved Mike. He was a fabulous person--kind, smart, funny, and gentle. Our hearts are broken for Dee, Monique, and Derek.
We have so many good memories of times together--cooking, eating, and laughing; traveling to Austin and Seattle; visiting in Colorado and Virginia, going to hear live music together.
We are just mystified by this news. He's been robbed of so many good years.
We will hold him in our hearts forever.
Love always,
and with deep sorrow and condolences,
Amy and Mark
