KERMIT KAISER Obituary

Kermit B. Kaiser, Jr., knowing that real love stories never die, we acknowledge his passing from complications of Polycystic Kidney Disease on March 10th, 2015. Kai was the first born son of Kermit and Betty Kaiser, both deceased. He leaves his wife of 37 years, Toni Ledbetter Kaiser, to cherish his life and memory along with his children, Catherine Kaiser and JT Martin, of Nashville, and Lauren Elizabeth Kaiser of New York City, NY. Three sisters and one brother also mourn his passing, Claire Kaiser Farmer of Memphis, Anne Kaiser Murphy (Pete) of Nashville, Kathryn Kaiser Mosteller (Mark) of Memphis and Edward Kaiser (Ashley) of Memphis. Eleven nieces and nephews, Kristen, Ken, and Matt Farmer, Lee and Davis Murphy, Mark, William, and Andrew Mosteller, and Gray, Kert, and Maggie Kaiser, who depended on Kai's wisdom and experience are left bereft at his passing. Hundreds of Memphians counted on Kai for financial advice and emotional support and will miss his steady presence. He was a proud graduate of Christian Brothers High School as well as an Honors Graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He held a B.A. in Business Administration. After undergraduate school, Kai went on to complete the work to be designated as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Accredited Estate Planner (AEP). He established Kaiser Financial Group in 1992. Over the last couple of years, he has confidently transferred his business to the capable hands of his third "daughter", Sara Stevens, CFP. A life-long learner and leader he served as President of the Estate Planning Council of Memphis, President of the Memphis Chapter of The American Society of CLU and SHFU. Never too busy to assume other roles, he was member of Memphis Life Underwriters Association and the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting. He was passionate about his hobbies; wing shooting, fly fishing, racquetball, and water sports and shared this love with family and friends. Clearly Kai was an outstanding leader in his professional life but more importantly, he was beloved as a family patriarch, husband, brother, father, grandfather, friend, and advisor. At the end of his life Kai was able to welcome James Timothy Martin, Jr., son of his daughter Catherine and husband JT, into this world on March 2, 2015, an event that meant so very much to him. He adored his wife, Toni, and daughters and granddaughters, Kaiser and Mary Catherine, beyond measure and the best thing is they always knew it and felt it. Until we meet again on that beautiful shore, farewell dear Kai. Visitation will be 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 12th at St. Louis Catholic Church, 203 S. White Station Rd, with Funeral Mass to follow at 2:30 pm. Memorials in his honor may be sent to The PKD Foundation (www.pkdcure.org) or Wings Cancer Foundation (www.wingscancerfoundation.org).

Kai was a good friend to my parents, Bill and Ann Metzger, and came to be my friend as well. He is now in that place we all aspire to, but his loss will be sorely felt by those of us left behind on this plane. See you again someday, Kai. Miss you.
