Father of Damon F. Widmer, grandfather of Martin D. and Shelley Rose Widmer, son of Dorothy M. Widmer and the late Joseph Widmer. Brother of: Cathy Widmer, Cynthia (Paul) Sakala and Eva (Michael) Lezarek.

Fred, you served with 2 of my friends in VN and i saw you on the documentaries 'Remember My Lai' and the PBS 'American Experience' episode 'My Lai'. You were a Soldier like everyone else. We owe our freedom to men like you. My friend Larry especially remembered you, rusty calley, and ernest medina.

Damon,
You came to Chartiers Valley once with your Dad. He was so proud to have you watch him in front of a class of students. You probably know that your Dad has been an extremely important part of my teaching the Vietnam Era both at Chartiers Valley High School in Bridgeville and Duquesne University. He was highly respected by the students and was an awesome presence in the classroom. Your Dad was self-deprecating, funny, and tremendously interesting. I, personally, have been so enriched by Fred Widmer in my life as a colleague, a source of deep understanding, and a friend. I will miss your Dad.
