James Eagan Obituary
New Harmony, IN
James O. "Jim" Eagan, Sr., age 74, of New Harmony, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Jim was born October 6, 1942 in Evansville to the late Alfred and Alice Sue (Coon) Eagan. He was a 1961 graduate of North High School. After graduating from North, Jim worked for Kent Plastics for 16 years and later at Alcoa for 29 years before retiring in 2005. After retirement, Jim enjoyed working at Harmonie State Park. Jim also loved spending time with his grandchildren, listening to the Woodlawn Band in New Harmony every Monday and country music. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Harmony, Masonic Lodge #394 of New Harmony and a former member of the Scottish Rite.
Surviving Jim are his wife of 54 years, Alta (Combs) Eagan; two daughters, Stacy (Larry) Conyers of New Harmony and Susan (John) Cooper of Mt. Vernon; one son, James O. "Jim" (Shelly) Eagan, Jr. of New Harmony; nine grandchildren, Ashley (Patrick) Hook, Amanda (Ryan) Conyers, Lucas (Chantil) Conyers, Olivia (Curt) Schneider, James (Amanda) Conyers, Caleb (Mai) Conyers, John Westley Cooper, Whitney Eagan and Zachary Eagan and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Eagan in 2015 and by an infant sister, Beverly Eagan.
Funeral services for Jim will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street, Pastor Larry Conyers officiating.
Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the First Baptist Church of New Harmony, P.O. Box 595, New Harmony, IN 47631.
