Dear Gonzales family , my wife and I attended Larry's amazing service yesterday and it was a beautiful tribute to a very special person who was so loved. I went to school with Larry for 12 years but unfortunately only saw him a few times at church and a reunions since. We moved out of the area about 11 years ago and lost touch with many people. I want to thank Janine for a wonderful heartfelt talk that gave me insight into a great man who loved God and his family. God has Blessed this family. Rest in Peace my friend.

Irene, I was a 14 year old freshman and Larry a 15 year old Sophomore at Lasuen playing on the JV baseball team together. During the ride home after a game on an old yellow school bus, Larry, while standing up looking out a window said, "Jay, come here." He had me look down into a car to see an attractive young lady driving. His next statement stayed a greeting between us for the next 52 years whenever we saw each other. He said, "Jay, check out the sec-a-tary!(emphasis on the Sec portion). Any function, any where, one of us would say, "Any Sec-a-tarries here today?"
When my former boss Sheriff Lee Baca was asked what type of Deputy he wanted for the Department, his answer would always be, "a genuinely good human being." That phrase is the one that keeps hitting me when describing Larry. Just a great great man and genuinely good human being. I will miss him greatly. Jay Zuanich

Words cannot even begin to express our sorrow and deepest sympathy on your loss. Larry was one of the most treasured members of our Chili Peppers Golf Club as he had the Wit, Charisma and grace that very few men in our world possess. He would brighten up every 19th hole he entered with a quick gentlemen's greeting and few stories of his USC days and then get into why he just missed that 300 yard longest drive marker. Irene, always remember a great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again....Billy Ahumada Sr and Family.

Our hearts are saddened by your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you..... As one of a small number of past presidents and on behalf of the entire Wilmington Chili Peppers Golf Club organization I (We) extend our deepest condolences to Irene, Marc, Janine, Caren and the entire Gonzales family during this difficult time. We will fondly remember Larry and I know I can say this for all Chili Peppers, past and present, that we were very lucky to have had the pleasure of knowing, playing and sharing Larry's USC stories and fight song for those years he was with our club and believe me he will be greatly missed by all of us. May your memories of Larry give you peace and comfort....Sincerely, Sonny Velasco and the Chili Peppers brotherhood.

Dearest Irene, Marc,Caren, Janine and Family.
We heard of the loss of your husband and father. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with you all, at this time of his loss. I was fortunate to have known Larry for a number of years. As a young high school student , husband and by luck the best neighbor that lived down the street. Over the years, I remember hearing him practicing with the band in his garage at night. At times, Larry seemed entertained just working in his garage on the weekend. I would see him there for hours passing the time.
As for social gatherings, Larry seemed to out shine everyone in the room, his smile, laughter, and his genuine hello was straight from his heart, not to mention he was always dressed in his Hawaiian shirt and shorts. I know that God has a special place for him...gone to soon...
Sincerely
Chuy Ibarra

To The Gonzales Family, I am so sad to hear about Larry. He was truly a nice guy with a beautiful smile that lit up the whole room. He displayed absolute class in all that he did and he helped anyone he could. He had a huge heart. He was a great person, friend, and excellent coach. All of his MSHS softball teams loved him and had fun playing for him.
Rest in peace Larry. God Bless,
Chuy Ibarra

I still remember the time when Ronnie his brother one of my best friends took me to Larrys bachelor party one of my best teenage
highlights.and when-his band play at my wedding it was EPIC Those are the kind of things that he will be remembered for - making people smile and bringing laughter in their lives. And while it's going to be very difficult to think of this world without him, it is a happy thought knowing that wherever he is, he is only spreading happiness.

My sincerest and heart felt condolences to the entire Gonzales family. It hurts to see the passing of a friend with whom you grew up! Holy Trinity and Fermin Lasuen, choir, glee club and little league baseball, you don't have to call a person every day to be a friend when you have shared so much growing up!
Mr. (Danny) & Mrs. Gonzales, you and your entire family are in my prayers!

Irene and Family,
I was very sorry to hear the news about Larry. Larry and I went to school together from the first through the 12th grade. He was always one of the best people, always friendly and always a pleasure to be with. I remember envying him at Holy Trinity when the piano teacher would come to free him from class for his piano lessons while the rest of us had to stay in the classroom. He always had such a big smile on his face when he left the room. Larry will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Dear Irene and Family.
My deepest condolences. Larry Gonzales was one of the nicest person I have had the privilige to meet. Larry was a perfect gentleman with a quick wit, whose soft voice I can hear as I am writing. His patience with me after constantly hitting his golf ball by mistake ( his was always straighter) was appreciated. He has blessed us all with lasting memories of a very fine friend, performer and athlete.

Irene and Family,
No one can ever have an unkind word for that man, nor he for others! Even as kids, Larry on Second St., me on First and Walker, Larry was always KIND to everyone! He was still 'one of the guys' but never forgot to respect his fellow man.
Then, fast forward a lifetime to his modeling courage and bravery over the past few years as he fought his illness' complications. What bravery!
From his love of family, friends, music, sports he NEVER forgot the love of his God. You always knew he was a model Christian- not a saint but a great Christian man. Larry will always be remembered and all of his loved ones in my prayers.
Sincerely, Martha Austin McKinzie
