Jacque was born on Oct. 25, 1941, to Henry J. and Marion J. Reimer. She spent most of her childhood and teen years on a small farm just north of Zamora with her parents and four younger brothers, Jim, Jon Thomas and Jerry. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and brother, Jon, and is survived by her husband of 48 years, Larry Vaughters; son, Lance Vaughters his wife Sigrid and their children Lydia, Lucia, Lucas, Seth, Shem and Saije; as well as by daughter and husband, Tobia and Paul Sanders. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Jacque drank deeply and zestfully of the life God gave her, compassionately loving and helping people in need wherever she could and fearlessly championing for the rights of many who were being exploited, hurt and in need of protection. She was an excellent Christian counselor and encourager.
Our lives have been greatly influenced by our dearly beloved Jacque and our hearts will treasure the memories of you, Jacque, til we too are freed from this life!
Jacque was a longtime historian and typist at The Daily Democrat, where she prepared daily columns covering local history. She also wrote stories about local families, and events from Yolo County's past, as well as did copywriting, including obituaries.
A viewing for Jacque is scheduled at McNary's Funeral Chapel, 458 College St., in Woodland, from noon to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 14. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at the Woodland Cemetery on West Street. McNary's is assisting the family with arrangements.

Hello, my old Roomy, Lance! I just came across this, so I hope you somehow receive my note. (A cousin in law from Davis had mentioned a Jacqueline Vaughters so I checked.)
I actually remember your vivacious and refreshingly opinionated mum. Whether this was from us singing on tour in your church, or her visiting at Prairie, or both; I can't remember.
I also can recall your little sis, least.
This afternoon I had the pride and joy of helping induct a Native former student of
ours into a nearby Amerindian church.
I hope your interesting-sounding family is feeling well!

Tobia, Larry & Family,
Sorry to hear about your loss – I was shocked. Jacque’s encouraging words were of great comfort to me while working at the paper. She was always willing to listen and give suggestion on what she thought was best suited for the situation.
Jacque had lots of enthusiasm for local history. I remember her sitting at her desk working on a history piece for hours. Almost everyone had left the office except for Jacque – there she was researching.
Jacque was such a caring person – she will be missed.

The Jacque's Family
I knew Jacque back in what most would call the old days, speaking of grammar school days in Zamora. What good times we had back then. She will be up in heaven with brother Jon, learning about fishing and canning asparagus.
Our Thoughts and prayers are with all of the Family.

Dearest Larry, Lance, & Tobia,
What a shock to read about Jacque's passing... since we were out of town on Sunday & Monday, I didn't read about it until today AFTER the service time :(
I will never forget her, nor you all! She was so instrumental in teaching me as a baby Christian in March of 1977 at Nazarene Sunday School, and later with premarital counseling for Dick and I... and of course instrumental in Dick asking Jesus into his heart as Lord & Savior April 9th, 1978... I think he still has his Catholic Living Bible that she gave him back then!
And the years pass... but to comfort you: I know how deeply it hurts right now, but trust me, the peace God will give you because you KNOW she's with Him now, and out of pain... and the peaceful assurance that you'll see her again, and when you do what wonder and rejoicing there will be!
God bless you through this hurting time, but may you feel His comfort and look forward to the day you are re-united once again.
With love & prayers,
Helen (Garcia/Weaver) Long

Dear Sweet Jacque,
How I wish we had time to actually see each other the last time I was in California. I have such wonderful memories of when you and Larry were our youth leaders!! You were a wonderful, fun loving, warm person. I greatly admired you and your love for the Lord and others. Rest now dear one and enjoy the presense of the Lord as well as the loved ones who went before you!! You will be greatly missed but where you are is so fantastic, what a blessing for you and the ones who love you.
You are loved and will be greatly missed.
Love to your family you left behind. May they find peace in knowing where you are!!

Jac, You are free from the pain. We know you are in the presents of our heavenly father. I will miss our time of sharing and your mentoring. I will always remember to put my arms around myself and know you are hugging me and watching over my shoulder. I have an empty spot in my heart but you are far better off. My prayers are with you Larry, Lance and family and Tobia and family. God will give each one strength when we feel empty with our dear person gone. I remember when we had our Sunday School and Youth Groups, so many many years ago. God bless everyone. Love in Christ.

Tobia, Larry & Family,
Although my heart is breaking for you who are left behind, I can only visualize Jacque in Heaven dispensing advice and giving hugs where needed. She was a wonderful person, and I was honored to know her. God has called home one of his best angels, and she will be greatly missed. Here's to you, Granny Dragon!

Jacque and I spent many hours talking about our Lord and how He was her strength, she loved him so because she learned the secret of coming before Him and spending time in His presence. Now she is resting in His arms, no more pain or sorrow, she's free! I Love you Jaq! Nancy B

Larry, Tobia and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. When I heard that "Grandma Jacque" had passed, my heart ached for you and all the folks touched by such an amazing woman. She always had a warm hug for the kids, kind words for grieving families, and encouragement for friends. She could also be stubborn and opinionated. But that was part of her charm. She'd tell you what she thought was best — and then pat you on the back and encourage you, even if it wasn't the plan she'd choose. Yolo County just lost an historian. Those who knew her lost a true friend.
