Cheryl Holmes Wright

Cheryl Holmes Wright passed away on October 11, 2021 in Cape May, New Jersey following a joyful family gathering. She battled cancer with an amazing spirit and positive attitude for 1 1/2 years. Cheryl was born August 25, 1960 in Warsaw, NY to Sandra Rohner and Ernest Gary Holmes. She grew up in Whitesboro and Niskayuna, NY and attended college at Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute and the Rhode Island School of Design. She worked as a Teaching Assistant at Capital Region BOCES Special Education Division for 20 years, where a generation of special needs students benefitted from her patient, kind, and dedicated care and instruction. Cheryl infused any situation she entered with intelligence, joy, and good cheer. She was an artist who loved baking, gardening, drawing, painting and weaving. She was a devoted mother whose home was a favorite place for family and friends to gather. She was predeceased by her husband, John Wright, and her father. She is survived by her sons Jasper, Tucker (Kai Jones), and Graham Wright, her mother Sandra Rohner, siblings Eleanor O'Meara (Sean), Scott Holmes (Amy MacQueen), Gregory Holmes (Elaina) and Jennifer Holmes (Eric Woodruff), step siblings Richard Ohnmacht and Sarah Genuardi (Charles) as well as numerous beloved family members and friends. The family invites vaccinated friends to share memories at a celebration of her life on November 27, 2021 at River Stone Manor, 1437 Amsterdam Road, Glenville, NY 12302 beginning at 1:00 PM.
