David Mesh Obituary

David William Mesh March 4, 1940 (Springfield, MA) - December 6, 2021 (Burnt Hills, NY). A loving husband to Nancy (Shipman) for 60 years; a devoted father to Dan (Nancy), Jon (Renee), and Peter (Peter); and a playful grandfather to Christian, Ben, Nina, and Noah. Dave was happiest when surrounded by family - either at home or on vacations in the Adirondacks, Finger Lakes, and Cape Cod. We will always have him with us as we wander through the woods, savor a succulent piece of chocolate, enjoy a rousing game of croquet or ping pong, meander through the countryside on our bikes, enjoy the beauty of poetry, sing in harmony, or playfully tease one another. At 18, Dave put his poetry aspirations on hold to study Nuclear Physics. He moved to the Capitol District in 1965 to work on reactor design at the Knolls Atomic Power Lab. Dave was also instrumental in rebuilding the LINAC program at RPI. After his retirement in 2000, he renewed his passion for the arts and engagement in the community. He became a published poet, traveled internationally with the Burnt Hills Oratorio, was an adult literacy volunteer, and recorded literature for the visually impaired through WMHT/RISE. We are inspired by his never-ending quest for understanding and his philosophy of giving. In 2020, he wrote: We strive to return gratitude for our life, Encouraging children, visiting the lonely, feeding the hungry, offering compassion and wellness for those at loss, calming the agitated, forgiving and even loving miscreants; enjoying good friends, ever adoring intimate partners, enhancing earth’s natural provisions and our own talents. We are richer for having been a part of his life, and aspire to live out his philosophy. A virtual memorial will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 1 p.m. Please visit Dad’s Book of Memories on the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home website for details. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to WMHT or the Alzheimer’s Association.

My sincerest sympathies to Dave's family & friends!
I was fortunate enough to sing next to him at Burnt Hills Oratorio.
What a lovely, resonant baritone voice!
I always value being near superior singers like Dave, it makes me better!
He was also a decent human being, I will always value him as a friend.
To say he will be missed is a huge understatement!
