James J. Fanelli

James Nineveh J. Fanelli James J. Fanelli, 76, passed away May 12, 2025. He was a resident of Nineveh, Indiana.

James was born on March 19, 1949 in Harvey, Illinois to Joseph Fanelli and Carmella (Ungari) Fanelli.

He is survived by his son, Jim Fanelli (Melissa) and their children, Riley, Casey, and Grace as well as daughter, Tina Billingsly (Brian) and their children, Rachel, Samuel, Mark, and Brooke; and former spouse, Linda Fanelli. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty London (Sonny) and Lovie Fanelli.

James was a 1967 graduate of Thornton High School in Harvey, Illinois.

He raised his children in Dyer, Indiana where he spent time as a little league coach and bowled in many leagues and tournaments in northwest Indiana. He was a steelworker and was an active union member; including a year as Union President. James was also a member of Nineveh Christian Church.

James loved boating and going to car shows. He was a big Chicago sports fan, loved going to ballparks, and was a child at heart. Above all, he adored spending his time with his grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31) in Franklin with Pastor Tom Knight officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private entombment will take place at a later date at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
