It was with sadness I learned of Mr. Shaughnessy's passing. It was a privilege knowing him and being one of his physician's. I will miss his mischevious sense of humor and our talks of wolves, music and other wonderous things.

I had the pleasure of working with Dave occasionally in the years he worked at Fort Monroe. It was always a pleasure to talk with him. He had a depth of knowledge and wisdom most people never attain. I especially enjoyed his sense of humor. He will be missed by many people, including me. I know this is a difficult time, but make sure to take a moment and be thankful for all the good times you had together.

Leslie, David, Alicia, and family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Please know you are all in our prayers for comfort and peace. May God bless you with joy as you remember fond memories. I recall the words of Gandalf (movie, not book, but from Tolkien's poetry), "The journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one we must all take. The grey rain curtain of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass. And then you see it, white shores and beyond. A far green country under a swift sunrise." May your hearts be strong.
