Sue Pearce Obituary

Sue Ella Pearce, 78, of Charlottesville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday October 16, 2022, in a local nursing home.

Born January 22, 1944, in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of the late Charlotte Pecora.

She began her career as a court stenographer in New York before agreeing to accompany her mother, Charlotte, in moving to Virginia in 1981. She became an administrative manager in the Department of Urology at the University of Virginia Hospital until her retirement in 2012. Charlotte and Sue purchased a home in Lake Monticello in 2001 fulfilling their dream of owning a home of their own.

She is survived by her babies, Sophie and Sadie, her feline companions who were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her cousins, Dr John Knight Jr. and wife, Wanda, Colter Knight and wife, Julie May, Heather Knight and her partner, Sue Moretz, Lisa Brown and her husband, Guy, Charles Dillard and his wife, Cynthia, and Robert Dillard.

Sue never lost her love for all things New York and often spoke of returning. In addition to being related, Charlotte and Sue were best friends and always brought humor to family gatherings with their banter. No doubt they are back at it now. They travelled together to the beach, Atlantic City, Las Vegas and beyond. We will miss you, Sue, and hope your next hand is a Blackjack.

A small graveside service will be conducted at a later date, at Riverview Cemetery.

Sue and Charlotte were my neighbors when I was a little girl all throughout my teens and would always bring me and my family Taffy from going to the beach. They were great neighbors and its so saddening to hear she passed away.

My condolences to Sue's family. I worked with Sue years ago and she kept me in stitches with her humor.

So sad family to learn of Susie's passing. Her Mom, Charlotte and I worked together at Albemarle County Social services until Charlotte's retirement. Visited Charlotte and Susie at their home in Troy. Yes they were best friends as well as Mom and Daughter. Having fun in heaven again. My sincere sympathy to all for your loss. Miss Charlotte's stories of New York still. The fun they had making pasta and deserts for Christmas! Also rented Mr. Dillard's condo in St. Croix for a week. Very kind and loving family.
