Jill Turner (Pegler) Brabender
February 19, 2022
Jill Turner Brabender (Pegler), age 53 of Indianapolis, IN passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. Daughter of Linda Lightner of Canton, CT and William Pegler of Port St. Lucie, FL, she was born December 22, 1968, in Greenwich, CT. She is survived by daughters Emily Rose and Erica Rose, both of Indianapolis, IN and son Alex Rose of Del Ray Beach, FL. She was engaged to her Fiancé, Greg Widenhofer of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by siblings Sara Chabot of Duxbury, MA; Hutch Pegler (Ryann) of Darien, CT; Peter Lightner (Nicola) of Simsbury, CT; and Kelly Pegler (Stacey Scarso) of Trumbull, CT. Jill also leaves behind a niece and many nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her stepfather, Byron Lightner. Jill attended elementary and secondary schools in Simsbury, CT and graduated from SUNY-Plattsburgh with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1990.
Jill was a faithful member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Indianapolis, IN. She enjoyed bird watching and taking her dog, Kaya, on walks. She also was an avid runner and participated in many 5ks, 10ks, and mini marathons around Indianapolis. Her favorite weekend activity was going to Brown County, IN with her Fiancé and staying in cabins, hiking, and enjoying nature.
Jill enjoyed photography; she loved taking photos of nature, birds, and of course her family. She made many videos for her family to look back on after every vacation. She was incredibly passionate about music and loved seeing live performances. Among her other hobbies, she also enjoyed cooking for her family and hosting dinners once a week. Jill enjoyed a successful career in technology.
Jill was the most kind-hearted friend, mother, and partner that anybody would have been lucky to know. She is gone too soon and will be forever missed and loved by many.

Happy Heavenly Valentines day Jill, my former neighbor and first person I met when i moved to Connecticut when I was 10 and you were 8 almost 9. You are missed and never forgotten by myself or my family as you were a pivotal and integral part of our lives through the late 70s and 80s...Miss you my friend. Love Al

When my family moved to Simsbury in 1977, Jill and her family not only lived down the street but went to school with me. Although I was a grade ahead of her (and 21 month older than her) she forged a lifelong friendship with my family. I babysat her younger sister Kelly. Her brother Hutch, then 8, heard of my near drowning in 1980 and notified my parents before Simsbury Police causing a big scare in the neighborhood. We both went to college in New York. I to University of Rochester and Jill to SUNY Plattsburgh. I went to one of her weddings and periodically kept in touch via social media until I left those platforms. So as we embark on the holiday season less than two weeks away, I would be remiss to not wish my friend of over four decades, an early happy heavenly birthday. I will always cherish the walks we took down the cul du sac in Simsbury and you are truly missed by those lives you touched, including mine. So on behalf of my siblings, Moy and Vince as well as my parents Percy and Drina... Happy birthday this December 22 and Merry Christmas and continue to rest in eternal peace. I miss you my friend. Love Al. My thoughts to Linda, Hutch, Kelly (aka KO) Sarah and Peter... as well as others I don't know personally who Jill made and indelible impact!

Jill lived across the street from me and we became friends talking with one another on my front porch. She loved animals, even the squirrels, that irritated me, because they would eat my bird food, no matter what I tried and the chipmunks that dug holes in my yard; she was like snow white with her animals. I loved her smile and positive attitude. I will miss her so very much. Rest In Peace my lovely beautiful neighbor.

I had the pleasure of sitting across the desk from Jill for 2 years at Hill-Rom. Her laugh and smile could pick me up in an instant on stressful days. I will carry those happy memories she created with me.
