Barbara Teter Obituary
AGE: 67 • Prosperity, SC
Barbara C. Teter, age 67, of Prosperity, SC and formerly of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2015. Born in Landeck, OH on November 24, 1947, Barbara was the daughter of the late Robert Orland and Rosaleen Mabel Conklin. She made her career as a professional fundraiser for a number of companies and non-profit organizations, including the Medical Center of Delaware, University of Delaware, International Literacy and most recently, with the Christian Assistance Bridge in South Carolina. Barbara gave of her time and talents as a volunteer at Newark Charter School. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, shopping and both flower and vegetable gardening. She was a loving and devoted mother and adored spending time with her beloved granddaughters, whom she cherished.
Barbara is survived by her son, William Andrew Teter and wife Cathrine of Newark, DE; brothers, Dennis Conklin and wife, Pam of Prosperity, SC and Timothy Conklin of Fairfax, VA; and granddaughters, Savannah Broderick and Kendall Teter.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday morning, July 25, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara's name may be made to the Newark Charter School, 200 McIntire Drive, Newark, DE 19711.

I was so saddened to hear of Barbara's passing. I had the pleasure of working with her a number of years ago....she taught me so much about fundraising and stewardship. We were not only colleagues, but friends. She was a true professional and could light up a room with her bright personality and positive energy. There surely is a new and bright and shining star in our universe tonight.

How shocked I was to read this after reminiscing just today about "Mrs. Teter" and an African Violet mug she bought me so many years ago when I pledged a sorority at our alma mater, James Madison University (which was Madison College when Mrs. Teter attended). I took care of Andrew one summer during college and so enjoyed my days with him and my conversations with her. I am truly sorry for your loss and empathize whole heartedly having just lost my own mother at the age of 70 just a few weeks ago. May you find peace in fond memories and strength in the compassionate care of others...

Shocked and saddened to hear of Barbara's passing. She was such and wonderful woman and very devoted to her son. I knew her through Sigma Kappa Sorority.

Barb was a great team play while I worked with her at Christiana Care Health Services. She was bubbly and had a great personality to work with people. May she rest in peace.......Richard Beardsley (CCHS 1979 to 2009)
