Gerard Driscoll Obituary

Driscoll,

Gerard F. "Gerry

Pittsford: Passed away October 1, 2014, after a courageous and uncomplaining battle with cancer. Gerry was born April 9, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Long Island. Survived by loving wife of 39 years, Elizabeth, dearly loved sons Sean, Michael and Matthew, and cherished granddaughter Keira. Also survived by brothers Timothy (Kay), Richard and Thomas, several nieces and nephews and extended family. Gerry graduated with a B.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and went on to earn a Masters of Science in Physics from Penn State. He joined Kodak in 1967, and earned an MBA at the U of R. He eventually became VP of Government Systems. In 2004 he left Kodak and worked at ITT until his retirement in 2009. He always attributed his success in these companies to "working with the best people I could imagine", and was committed to his work and the people with whom he collaborated. When his sons were young he was active in Pittsford Little League and Vince Lombardi Football, as well as enjoying his youngest son's success in karate. Gerry also enjoyed travel, to places as diverse as Kyoto, Istanbul, Paris, Budapest, Prague and Ireland, among many other. But his favorite destination was the Monterey Coast of California, where he and his family shared many happy memories.

Friends and family are invited to attend a brief memorial service, followed by a reception, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on October 11, 2014 at Richardsons Canal House in Bushnells Basin. Private internment. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Benincasa, 3880 Rush Mendon Road, Mendon, NY or the Wilmot Cancer Center, Strong Memorial Hospital. Special thanks are given to the compassionate caregivers at Benincasa.

Dearest Elizabeth, Sean, Michael, and Matthew, we are saddened to hear of Jerry's passing, we knew when he started to court your Mom, that he was going to go places, have a great career, and enjoy his family. He surely did.
May he now rest in peace. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. The Crupi's Joe and Jean

Words here can only paraphrase those expressed in a last email to Gerry. He brought out the best in us and won our unwavering loyalty through his selflessness. In triumph and setback he remained a humble, approachable man. His influence is profound and lasting. Gerry, you will always be my father figure. Rest well and thank you--you made us great.

Elizabeth,
I had the pleasure to work with Gerry and have never met anyone with higher personal standards in the work place. He is certainly in a better place. Colonel Brazie

I had the distinct privilege of being associated with Gerry for over 20 years at both Kodak and ITT. For most of those years we were peers and shared many views on organizational practices. His leadership was inspirational but grounded in what was in the best interest to people and their goals. During my final corporate years, I reported directly to Gerry. He made everything so easy with his confidence and loyalty to those working with him. We never reported to Gerry since he didn't believe in reporting levels. Unfortunately, I will not be able to join you at the memorial ceremony. Your legacy as a dedicated, compassionate leader will live in many hearts forever.
