Karen: Please accept my sympathy for the loss of your husband (my cousin) Danny. I spoke with him on the phone once and his brother, Larry, visited us once when we lived in Seattle, Wa (we now live in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio). His father Abe was my father, Julius Duberstein's brother. Please take care of yourself. Sincerely, Phillis (Duberstein) Gerchmez

Dr.D remains the doctor I strive to be. Brilliant with compassion and a tough mentor. He remains the most influential person in my medical career though it was 27 years ago that I remember him saying, "Droffner, you just killed the patient," as I misread an upper GI series. "Type and Cross 6 units, 4 for you, and 2 for the surgeon if the bleed doesn't stop." He taught me the heart and soul of medicine.

Dear Karen and family ~ I was saddened beyond words to read of Danny's passing. You may remember me, I was your patient when you worked in the Johnston office, and Danny had treated me (and my family) for many, many years. I can say without any hesitation I loved that man with all my heart. I have never, ever found another doctor that I could entrust my health to....there was, and never will be, anyone like MY :) Dr. Duberstein who made us all feel like we were very, very special, and he always made me feel like I was the ONLY patient he had. A trait not easily found (nor carried out) by a busy doctor like himself. I found those same qualities in you Karen, and I lift you up this day and in the days and months to come, as you and your family mourn the loss of a humble, compassionate, one-of-a kind doctor, friend, and loveable soul. May God hold you his loving hands as he provides peace and comfort to you. The world has lost a special man, but Danny's advice, his spirit, and the memories of that special smile will live with me forever. I look forward to seeing him again one day in a place where both of us are healthy and whole.

God Bless.

Danny was one of my favorite preceptors when I went through PA school. He was very knowledgable and always willing to help in in pinch when I got out of school and in a rural health setting. I could always count on him to help me out with my GI patients. He was funny and loved his fast cars. He will definiely be missed.
