Dorothy Dezelle Obituary

Dorothy Jean Dezelle
January 10, 1928 - January 18, 2022
Fort Worth, Texas - Dorothy Jean Dezelle passed from this earth on January 18, 2022; surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was born January 10, 1928, to the late Walton Shoemaker & Vivian Shoemaker Ford in Fort Worth, Texas.
Dorothy attended Paschal High School. She fell in love with James, and they married in 1947. Dorothy always wanted to have a family, to be faithful to God's scriptures, and to live a long life; and all these God granted her.
Dorothy graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with honors and enjoyed her time as a kindergarten teacher in Fort Worth. Doing most of the work themselves, the family built a home at Lake Granbury where they lived during the 1970s. During the 1980s she lived in Brussels, Belgium; traveled throughout Europe, Israel, Egypt, Turkey, and China. Although she enjoyed learning about history, art & different cultures; she was a proud Texan and proud American. Dorothy and James moved to Sun City in Georgetown, Texas in 1997 and enjoyed making new friends and being closer to family.
Dorothy and James were founding members in The Worship Place. Dorothy enjoyed participating in Bible studies, volunteering for activities in the church, and sharing her faith with her family and others.
Dorothy was committed to her family. She loved being with her family and friends. She was very social, funny, had a great smile and laughed to the end.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband James, her sister Gladys Faulkner, her great-granddaughter Kendall Dezelle, her sister-in-law Dorothy Wright & spouse Ed Wright.
Dorothy is survived by her 3 children & their spouses: Barbara Dezelle, James Dezelle & spouse Susan and Susan Dorey & spouse Louis. Her seven grandchildren: Daniel, Cari, Jimmy & spouse Jenni, Caroline, Susie & spouse Jesse, Kellye Dorey & spouse Oz, Laura Egan & spouse Gregory. Her great-grandchildren: Daphne, Emma, Bella, James, Josie, Norah & Claire. Her great-great-grandchildren: Mason & Daisy and numerous nephews and nieces.
Dorothy's memorial service will be held at 1pm on Friday, February 18th at The Worship Place, 811 Sun City Blvd., Sun City, Georgetown, Texas 78633. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of flowers or donations to The Worship Place or your favorite charity.
