John Wessler Obituary

John Watkins Wessler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully January 1, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Born March 12, 1950, and raised in Arlington, Texas. In his 75 years on earth, John built his life on hard work, integrity, and dedication to family. He attended college at North Texas State University, where he laid the foundation for a successful career marked by determination and entrepreneurial spirit.

John spent many years as a banker before becoming a business owner, earning the respect of colleagues and the trust of those he served. In later life, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming a rancher in Weatherford, Texas, where he found joy in the land, the animals, and the quiet rhythms of ranch life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack Copeland Wessler and Jeanette Elaine Watkins and his brother, Glenn Wessler.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Denise Spitler, his loving sister and husband Christine and Mike Jarboe, two sons, Heath Garnett Wessler and Jerod Garnett Wessler, two daughters Laura Katherine Sanders and Julie Danielle Pittman, five cherished grandchildren, and nieces and nephews who will forever treasure his strength and unwavering love.

Though Alzheimer's slowly changed many things, it never diminished the love he had for his family or the impact he made on those who knew him. John performed in a rock band in Arlington as a teenager and loved many types of music his entire life. John will be remembered for his love of reading and his sharp mind before dementia stole its strength. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he held so dear.

John's unique mind before Alzheimer's created a vocabulary known by his family as John-isms. A remote control will forever be a pushada and sunglasses will be forever be sunny ol' sunglasses to those who knew and loved him. John approached his life with a positive attitude and found joy in simple pleasures. And now, John is rejoicing in heaven with God free of life's struggles.

John's ashes will be spread by family & friends on the ranch he loved on the Brazos River south of Weatherford.
