Arlington, Texas - Kenneth Gordon Simpson passed from this life to life eternal on January 29, 2023.
Ken was born to LaNell and Gordon Simpson in Waco,TX on August 4, 1948. He moved to Fort Worth as a teenager and graduated from Eastern Hills High School. He earned a degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1970.
Ken began his over 30 year career with PriceWaterhouseCoopers as a staff accountant and retired as a partner in the firm. He was steadfast in his work and well-respected by clients and peers alike. His work brought him satisfaction, purpose, and the love of his life, his wife Kim. They were both working for PriceWaterhouse when they met; they married a year later. Together Ken and Kim faced the joys and turmoils of life including Ken's many battles with cancer and a life-changing stroke. Despite these setbacks, Ken was a survivor and had a fighting spirit that lives on in his children and grandchildren.
In addition to enjoying numbers, Ken also had a passion for sports. He was an avid golfer, a long-time member of Colonial Country Club, a Ranger's season ticket holder for thirty years, and a Cowboys fan. Ken was also a dedicated member of St. Barnabas UMC for the last 44 years serving in a variety of ways from finance committee to capital campaign chair. He served his church with the same precision he completed his work.
But what occupied the biggest space in Ken's heart was his love for his friends and family. He was lucky to have a number of close friends he worked with, traveled with, golfed with, and enjoyed quality time with. His most important roles were that of a family man- son, brother, cousin, uncle, husband, father, and perhaps his favorite role, Pop. Ken was witty, dependable, loyal, and generous. He liked to joke with his dry sense of humor and laugh with the people he loved the most.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Simpson. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kim Simpson; mother LaNell Simpson; daughters: Kerry (Eric) Sandberg, and Melissa (Tony) Collett; son Tanner Simpson; grandchildren Wyatt and Sloane Sandberg and Jack and Harper Collett; brother Gary Simpson and sister Becky (Rex) Marion; father-in-law Jim Quetone; brothers-in-law Tucker (Becky) Quetone and Andy Quetone; along with many beloved nieces and nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Barnabas UMC on Saturday, February 11th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Ken may be made to St. Barnabas UMC or the Open Arms Health Clinic in Arlington, TX.
