Merry Davis Obituary

Merry Sharlene Davis

November 30, 1947 - November 30, 2024

Fort Worth, Texas - Merry Sharlene Davis was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, where she spent her entire life filled with love for her family and community. Merry passed away on her 77th birthday, surrounded by those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her father, Patches Harding, her mother, Charlotte Parker Harding, and her daughter Charlotte Musgrove. Merry is survived by her son, Eric Musgrove, his wife, Staci Musgrove, children Kailee Musgrove, Kassidy Musgrove, and Hayden Musgrove, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her loving husband of over 26 years, Early Davis, who brought with him five other wonderful children: Sherry McCauley, Anna Monroe, Trevor Davis, Erin Perryman, and Beverly Davis. Together, Merry and Early shared the joy of 17 grandchildren.

Merry is also survived by her sister and best friend, Sherry Jackson, her husband Jack Patrick, and nieces Sheri Lacy, Julie Vinson, and Amy Solito. She was a dedicated and loving family member, and her smiles, hugs, and affection were a constant presence in the lives of those around her.

Merry faced many challenges throughout her life, but she always rose to meet them. As a single mother, she worked tirelessly to raise her son, Eric, providing for him by holding two jobs and ensuring that he had every opportunity to succeed. Their close bond was evident in their many shared moments together-trips to the zoo, heart-to-heart conversations, and her unwavering support as he grew into a fine young man. She was a true inspiration, exemplifying perseverance and strength.

Merry went on to build a successful career in real estate, first as a realtor and later as Vice President and Manager in the title business.

Her greatest joy, however, was always her family. She also loved spending time with her friends, enjoying the company of her dogs, and reading, particularly the Bible. She underlined and highlighted nearly every verse in both the Old and New Testaments, finding comfort and inspiration in its teachings. Travel brought her great happiness in her later years, as she eagerly packed for trips, even for just a weekend getaway. She also cherished quiet evenings watching StarGate SG1 with a glass of wine, side by side with Early.

Merry was a woman who was easy to love. Her warmth and kindness made an impression on everyone she met. Her ability to connect with people, to listen, and to speak openly made her a beloved presence in many lives. Her trust in others was a blessing, and even when life knocked her down, she always got back up, showing resilience in the face of adversity.

Though Merry's health was affected by dementia and Alzheimer's in her later years, she continued to offer love and care to those around her. She passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at home, surrounded by the love she so freely gave.

Merry will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at Arlington Heights Christian Church, 4629 Bryce Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76107, off Camp Bowie, on January 11, 2025, at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Arlington Heights Christian Church in her honor.

Merry was a blessing to all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.

Eric - I was so sorry to hear about your mom. I have such wonderful memories of sweet Merry - I remember my mom and I spending hours at your house after school so they could "catch up"! They loved to visit about everything!

Merry always told me how pretty I was, how smart I was, how nice I was - she did more for my self-esteem in those early growing up years than anyone! She made me feel like a million dollars as a 9-year-old!!!!

She was such a positive influence on me, such a ray of sunshine for everyone she met. I am so heartbroken that she is no longer here, but her memory will always live in my heart!!

Thinking of you and your family!! Stay in touch!!

I celebrate Merry's life, she truly lived up to her name! The joy that she carried, ebullient and easy, walked in the room with her. Memories of her infectious laugh, her deep " Mama Bear" love for her family were my example and are today my treasured memories. I knew I was seen and heard and loved when I was with her. Beautiful in spirit and visage, her devotion to the Lord and to her family were my touchstones, marking the woman I aspired to be. I often thought "I want to be just like her!" In so many ways, she was my pattern. I miss her, but I have the honor of carrying her in my heart. I rejoice that she is in the Presence of her King, and I know that I will see her again just as the Lord sees her now!

Mary was one of the kindest souls I´ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and a truly radiant person whose very nature embodied a genuine kindness and great love for everything her light touched. It has been a gift to have known her-to have talked, to have laughed, and to have loved her-and she will be deeply missed.

Mee-mee was one of the sincerest people I´ve ever known, especially when expressing her love for her family and friends. Her affection was always spontaneous, an ability rarely seen and the best in her. No matter the landscape, she found room with two simple words to part clouds: "I love you." No matter the place or time, this natural expression, in combination with her humor and wisdom, has taught me much on the ever-tangling path of life. I thank you and love you so dearly.

Beautiful.
Merry had a way of always looking at my dad, which amazed me. Her ever-sparkling eyes held this beautiful respect and admiration. She loved him profoundly, and those gazes of genuine affection were reassuring to me because I knew that my dad had finally found what he always deserved; I will forever be grateful to her for loving him the way she did, with all her heart and soul. Additionally, if that were not enough, she loved all his children so freely, absolutely, and sincerely. What a gift! I´ve never been so openly and earnestly told that I am loved. My confidence and well-being soared in her presence. She taught me quite a few valuable life lessons: Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you every chance you get, even if the feeling hits you walking down the grocery store aisle. Text it if you must, shout it, sing it, but above all else, express it with wild and endless abandon. I love you, Merry. You made all our lives better.

I watched my own mother struggle throughout her life and who suffered and died in the arms of Dementia. The loss is twofold. The initial loss comes much sooner than the later. I remember Merry's elegance and her feisty sense of humor, a lady of quality and substance, and together you made a beautiful couple who were an example, a higher standard for the rest of us to follow. It's not enough to love, but to love through service. As a single mother, I can relate to Merry's cause as it's not an easy one, yet she was one of the lucky ones. As much as this is a time of sadness, it's a rare opportunity to celebrate and to make memorable a life that blessed so many others. Life is a cycle of endings and beginnings, of gains and losses, of eventual and ultimate freedoms. Life doesn't end; it just gets lived differently. As new horizons come into view, value the past and look ahead. Be brave.

I was heartbroken to hear about Merry's passing. She was such a special person, and I feel honored to have cared for her and shared in her journey. Despite the challenges she faced, Merry had a way of brightening the day with her sweet and loving nature. Those moments of kindness and connection were truly precious, and they will forever remain in my heart.
Merry´s spirit was resilient, and her sweetness, even in the toughest times, was a testament to her beautiful soul. She touched my life with her unique charm and warmth. If there is anything I can do to support you or honor Merry´s memory, please do not hesitate to reach out. I know you are smiling up there with your red lipstick.

Merry, Merry, lived up to her name!
She was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Fort Worth. My daughter, Ashlee Johnson, and her son, Eric were in the same grade at Tanglewood Elementary. She could not have been more gracious with her funny, witty style in introducing me to my new home. We had endless cups of coffee and laughed til we cried over the years. I treasure those memories but I am confident Merry is spreading her joy and laughter among her loved ones in Heaven. I will never forget herShirlee
