Carolyn Clark Ahern

AHERN Carolyn Clark Ahern, of Norman, died March 14, 2008, after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of HAVENBROOK FUNERAL HOME of Norman. She was a graduate of Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, Ohio. She earned her B.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University, her M.B.A. from the University of Oklahoma, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in English from Cornell University. She taught English at the University of Oklahoma. Then, to devote more time to her family, she spent the next 20 years working as a free-lance writer, teacher, technical editor, project manager, and lyricist. Most recently, she taught English at Norman High School. She served three years on the Board of Directors of the Women's Resource Center and eleven years as a Girl Scout Troop leader. She was a member of McFarlin Methodist Church and its Chancel Choir. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father Dr. Samuel G. Clark. She is survived by her husband, Judson Ahern; son, Patrick; and daughter, Kellie; and her mother, Jennie Clark, of Columbus, Ohio.
