Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Dixon Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one, Christopher R. Dixon US Marine Private 1st Class. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

Even though we went to school together I never got the pleasure to get to know you then. However in the past 2 years I have gotten to know what kind of person you was thru the wonderful stories and memories shared by Benton. He introduced me to you family and your mommy gave us pictures of you that we proudly display in our home. Not a day goes by that Benton doesn't speak of you and all the fun that him and Nick shared with you. You are brought up in every conversation we have. He knows you are watching over him. Its has been 5 years since you have been gone but you are never forgotten

I was Chris's Rack mate in plt 2073 at Parris Island and I am truly sorry for your loss. I saw him on the A&E special one time when i came in on Leave. Chris was one of the only Marines that I talked to in recruit training and i know first hand that he was an outstanding person. I also would like to get in contact with his Parents if at all possible. Thank you and ive been praying for the family.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Christopher, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Hey Chris. I haven't signed this guest book, since shortly after you were taken away. My 1st note, really didn't release my feelings, as im normally the type to hold it in. Yet, im not going to lie, I miss you everyday. I miss joking around in Telfer's room, listening to stupid songs in the middle of her class, and being stupid in the weight room. You were a great friend to me, and one of the nicest I have had through high school. I proudly pump out my chest and brag about you when I can, but sometimes when your brought up, I can do nothing but my hang my head and cry. It's nearly 3 years later, and I still harbor pain inside of me, and im sure im not nearly close to being alone. There are days that im so mad you were taken away, that I want to just release rage and scream at everyone I see. More so though, there are days when im proud to call you a friend and pull a picture out and tell your story. But, not a day goes by that I don't bring up your name, think about you, or shed a tear. It hurts me alot to talk about you, and the things that happened, but at the sametime you deserve to have your story told. Your story is one in a million, because that is what you are. Your one in a million. You are missed, an awful lot. Rest in peace Marine, you deserved it.

Time passes quickly and it is because of Chris and his service that we still enjoy our freedoms in the United States. I had Chris as a student at Hamilton Middle School. He was a wonderful student and a pleasure to teach and be around. I am honored to have known him. He was a great example for others to follow and for others to look up to. I appreciate the sacrifices he made for his country. I thank you for raising such a wonderful son and to share him with others. May God bless you to know others have not forgotten Chris. He continues to be a hero!

Not a day goes by that you are not thought of. I can still see your smile when I close my eyes. It is always so hard when everyone is together because it still feels like a part of the puzzle is missing. It still hurts like all this happened yesterday and although you aren't here, I know you are still with us all. You were a friend that only comes along once in a lifetime. I am more than honored to have had you as that friend and although your time here was short, you will never be forgotten. You were a best friend, a hero and like a brother to me. Your memory will always be a prized possession that I will keep forever.

August 16, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Chris,
It's been 2 years, when God took you by the hand. He took you from the battlefields of a distant, foreign land.
We celebrate your life on earth, as we look to heaven's sky. What a brave, young Marine you were, who wasn't afraid to die.
So, as we have you in our thoughts, but that is nothing new, we remember all the good times and laughter we had with you.
You'll never be forgotten, no matter what day it is. Your sacrifice you gave for all, now they know what Freedom Is!
So, my son, we miss you, for now we are apart. God has you in His keeping; We have you in our heart.

We Miss and Love You,
Your Mom Beckie, Dave & Chad

To Our Fallen American Hero. I will always remember all the times at Aunt Jeanette & Uncle Daves house. If it weren't for that house all of us cousins would have had to travel to see each other. But we always had a meeting spot "The Barn." I think all of us grew up there. What I am trying to say is thank you for serving our country and making the ultimate sacrafice. I am proud to tell people that you were and are my first cousin. I just wish I would have gotten to see you at least one more time. Now we will all have to meet again in a new barn. Chris was the most honest, free spirited person I have known! I can remember playing with Chris and Jamie in my sandbox everyday after school. I remember riding bikes, playing tag, and hanging out at the community center with Chris, Chad, Michael, Mike Schutte, Nick, Benton, and Katie Payne! Although the memories I have of him begin in grade school, the moments I will cherish the most were within the last few years.

Chris and I grew closer as we got older. We spent many nights talking about everything from girls, school and our families to him becoming a Marine. I will never forget him chasing me around my yard with a deer head or his crazy cowboy hat. I smile everytime I go to the Spaghetti Warehouse or if I am near a Cheryl's Cookies.

I never understood his fascination with joining the military until recently. He dedicated his life for our country and our freedom! Before he met with the recruiter, I remember talking with him about the possibility of war. He was FEARLESS! He was more concerned with saving someone else from a draft then he was with the possibility of not coming home. He was the best friend anyone could ask for and one person I will always admire.

I will never forget you Chris, and I will treasure all of our memories forever. Hopefully there are blue trucks, motorcycles, dirt bikes, and deer to hunt in heaven!!! If that’s the case, we all know you are living THE life! I miss you and hope you are helping to guide me in all the right directions! We both know I need your help!

Becky, Dave, Chad, Michelle, Melissa, Benton, and Nick- I am always thinking of you ALL but today especially!

To Chris:

You were always such a good friend. I will never forget you. We shared so many memories from when we were little until your senior year when I was your date to prom. You have always been a wonderful, caring and loving person. There is not a day that goes by that I'm sure everyone you have ever touched does not think of you! You were one person no one could ever forget. Your eyes, your smile, and your wonderful personality. I am so thankful for what you've done for us and our country. You are respected and loved by everyone. In 18 years of life you have touched more people than anyone could possibly imagine. I love you, miss you and think about you every day! You are never and WILL never be forgotten. I love you Jamie!

Tomorrow would have been our homecoming celebration, but God had other plans for you dear nephew and brought you back to us in May. We are so proud of you and the dreams you dreamed to become a United States Marine. You worked really hard and made that dream come true. You are truly an example for all of us and have made such an impression on more people than you could ever imagine during your short 18 year life here on earth. Your family and friends miss you every day and will never forget your blue eyes, that beautiful smile, your laugh, your practical jokes, and those “looks” you could give… that was what made you Chris! Thanks for being who you were and thanks for touching our lives. Until we meet again…all our love Marine,

As I watch the news this day about the Lima company coming home and the big celebration and welcome home that is being planned for them, I can't but stop and think of those that won't be joining them. I can't help but think of those families who lost loved ones and they won't be experiencing the excitement the other families will get to have when they are able to hold their sons, brothers, or fathers in their arms very soon. May God be with you all. I'm thinking of Chris's mother and hoping she is doing as well as anyone could possibly be doing in her situation. Stay strong!

If a man is judged by the company he keeps and the friends he has made, then Chris Dixon was truly a man. I met Chris one time at a store where a mutual friend is employed. He was in full dress uniform, home on leave awaiting his orders. He stood at attention in front of a deli counter while his friend waited on customers and at ease when he spoke with her. It was very impressive to see such a fine young representative of our armed forces and our Central Ohio area. Chris has made such a lasting impression on many lives, lives that he didn't even realize he was touching. Chris Dixon, forever 18, forever a man.

Chris,

There isnt a day that goes by that I dont charish the friendship we had. I can honestly say you were the best friend I ever had and probably ever will have. I will never forget your smile, jokes, or any of the wonderful memories you blessed me with. I think and miss you every day. I wish more people could have known the Chris I knew! I will never forget all the great times we spent together like the "Z" fest or rollerblading together or even the time you chased me with your pet rat in the front yard! We grew up together, learned from each other and leaned on each other. I will never forget the last time I spoke to you and you were upset that you were going to miss my birthday (Chris never missed my birthdays) but guess what buddy...you made it after all. I spent your birthday with you and I'll do the same for mine! I miss you buddy and as long as I am alive, you will never be forgotten! You are truly a hero to everyone! My heart goes out to Becky, Dave and Chad because I know what I am going through can not even compare to what all of you are going through. Thank you for giving me the best friend I ever had! I love you all and I am always here for you!

Dixon is the perfect example of an american hero. 2 days before he died he ran into a building to save one of his fallen brothers, inside the building were insurgents shooting automatic machine guns through the walls at him, he put his life on the line and penetrated the hostile house to attempt to save ssgt goodwin, he told me later that night he didnt care about anything but saving goodwin from the house, he did everything he could, he even took 3 grazing shots to his arm, Dixon is a warrior, he will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN

"Dix" was my son's best friend in Lima. He was devastated by his death.

In my inconsolable grief and devasation, I have to believe that Chris and Chris and Lima are in a special place in Heaven now.

My heartfelt sympathies to all family, fellow Marines, and friends of Pfc. Dixon. The losses of 3/25 are particularly poignant for me. I was born and raised in Columbus. I enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve and was assigned to Lima Company before going to boot camp. I never returned to Lima Company because I switched over to the regular Marine Corps while in boot camp. I know similar connections are being felt all over Ohio and neighboring states. Again, my thoughts are with you.

Please accept the heartfelt sympathies and the Proud and Honorable thank yous for the loving life you have given in support of Freedom. I am an Ohio Marine Mom too, my son stationed in Baghdad. I have shed many tears for all our fallen and the families left behind. WE WILL NOT FORGET. You do NOT grieve alone. I wish that throughout the years of this war that I had learned one thing to say that would help. Alas, I cannot. Words do not justify the loss and pain of the ultimate sacrifice. Please know though, you are in my heart, in my prayers, mixing my tears with yours, and understanding how your greatest fear became a really harsh reality. I wish, pray, with all my heart, mind, body and soul, that NO ONE would EVER have to face this. In ending, my sorrow I share with you. My thanks for your ultimate sacrifice I send. May God have eternal mercy upon all our Blessed Souls.

Although I did not know your loved one, I want to extend my deepest sympathies. I also, lost my son, Sgt. Michael Marzano, USMC, of the 3-25 WPNS Co. Haditha Iraq, May 7th, in the ambush at the Haditha Hospital. I do not know any comforting words because nothing seems to be helping us right now, except for the fact that they died doing what they believed in. May they guard the streets of Heaven with the same pride they had as our military.

Dear Mrs. Dixon,

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with your sister Lou and feel like I know you and your family. She spoke so highly of all of you and I know she was especially proud of your son Chris. Reading all the lovely entries from this website, you must be proud too. I hope that all these kind words can someday help you find peace. Knowing how much your son's service meant to all of us by protecting our freedoms, is something that we will never forget. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

We want to extend our sincere sympathy to all of you and let you know that you are in our prayers. Chris, we want to thank you for your sacrifice to us and our country. We will remember you forever. Becky,

I can't imagine the pain you feel at the loss of Chris - but I know that we are free because he was willing to stand in our place - to guard our borders - to keep us safe - to fight our battles. Remember with pride his life and know that we owe our freedom to Chris. It's a debt we cannot repay.

May God help fill the emptiness like only He can.

You all don't know me but my son Mark Stinnett worked with you Becky at the optical lab and he is very concerned and hurt that you are in such pain. As a mother I know there are no words of confort, people do say the wrong things to a family that has lost someone dear to them. All I can say is I am Proud and Honored to have had your SON go and fight for OUR FREEDOM. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers. Just remember the good times with him that has always helped me in the time of loss. I am so very sorry.

I was very saddened to hear of your son's passing. I feel a very strong connection to him because I too was in the Marine Corps, graduated from Hamilton Twp. and lived in Obetz. Your son would have just told everyone that he was just doing his job but we know that he fell as a true american hero. And as Ronald Reagen once said " When we get to heaven I know that it will be guarded by U.S. Marines".
