I want to express my deepest sympathy to Dr. Haughn's family. Sorry for the late response, I had no idea that he had passed away. I did an online search to see where he was practicing as I was told in June he was no longer with ESA only to be shocked in finding his obituary. He was a great surgeon, with a wonderful personality and his love for his family was very obvious in talking with him. I will truly miss him. He touched so many lives! :'(

I was two years behind Chris in residency. I ran into him about 7 years ago at a conference in St. Louis. We spent time catching up. He told me how happy he was and how much he loved being married and how great having children is. He said he loved being a dad. I am deeply saddened by this news and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I am very saddened to learn of Dr. Haughn's passing. I worked with him at Deaconess up until three years ago when I retired. His love for Diet Mt. Dew meant that I would get him a glass of it when I knew he was coming out of surgery. I was a visitor assistant in the surgery lounge for 17 years. Never a nicer and more even tempered doctor than him in all my experiences. Deepest sympathy to his family. I know he will be missed by all that knew him and loved him.

My heart breaks as I write this. No one ever wants to lose a loved one especially a kind loving soul as Dr. Haughn. As a patient, and working in Healthcare for 24 years, he always took the time to make me feel like I would be taken care of no matter what. He was jovial, serious, kind, and always took time to talk about his kids... he was very proud. My sincere condolences to his family, friends, loved ones, and his work family. He likely spent more time with his work family than anyone. Know that they loved him just as much.

I am so very saddened by the tragic news of Chris's passing. Chris and I were fraternity brothers at Miami and though I have not spoken to him in years, his warm personality and gentle demeanor was very memorable and I fondly remember our Miami days. To hear about his accomplishments as a Physician, and the beautiful family that he has raised with his wife, is truly heart warming. I know it is devastating for the family, so my thoughts and prayers are with you all in this difficult time. Chris' legacy will live on in each of you and he will be dearly missed by all he touched. God bless.

On May 7, 2011 Dr. Haughn changed my life when he performed my bariatric surgery. I lost 200 pounds because of his skill and expertise. He blessed my life during my stay at Deaconess when he shared his love for his family during a visit to my room. Mrs. Haughn, you were spoken of and his love for you and your children was evident by the smile on his face. He honored you by saying how blessed he was to have someone so wonderful to share his life with. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. May God bless and keep you.

On April 3, 2009, Dr. Haughn saved my mother's life and gave my family the opportunity to spend 5 more months with her. She remained at Deaconess those 5 months, and he was involved in her care the entire time. He was a brilliant, humble, & very kind man. I'm deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Dr. Haughn helped to change my life. Not only was he a mentor for me as a nurse, he became my surgeon as well. He was even more fabulous when I was his patient! We had the common thread of being from the Buckeye State, transplanted to Evansville. He was an instant buddy!
The things he has taught me over the years will never be forgotten. I will miss seeing him turn as red as an Ohio State Jersey and that awkward laugh when he gets embarrassed. I will miss feeding him cookies when he claims his wife has placed him on a diet! What a wonderful person, man, husband, father, doctor, surgeon, and friend. Loved by all, he is already missed and never will I forget his compassion for patients and staff and all he has done to influence my personal health and professional career.
Much love to his family with prayers for peace and comfort in this time of unimaginable loss.

I am so incredibly fortunate and grateful to have had Chris as my dear life-long friend since we first met at Tremont Elementary in Upper Arlington, OH. So many memories which I will forever cherish... Easter egg hunts, sleep overs, birthday celebrations, double dating to high school dances, concerts, hitting the batting cages, working out, just hanging out listening to music, being teammates on high school and men's adult baseball teams, and Ohio State Football games.

Dr. Haughn was my bariatric surgeon in 2010. He gave me my life back. My favorite memory is when I had a follow up surgery, he came in to the operating room all smiles and asked me what kind of music I liked. I said classic rock. While they were getting me ready and hooking me up and getting the medicine ready, he asked me how about some Frampton? I said I love Frampton. The music came on. Frampton Live -- the really cool guitar solo opening! I heard about 4 bars of music and I was out. When I woke up I said that I felt that is been operated on by Doctor House!
He was an incredible Doctor who always gave each person the time they needed with him. I will miss him. My sympathies and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues. RIP.

Eleven years ago our 13 yr old son became very ill suddenly. There was talk of air-lifting him to Riley's. Dr. Haughn was the surgeon on call, and had not been at St. Mary's very long. I will forever remember him telling the staff that he thought he could perform the serious emergency surgery that our son needed. Dr. Haughn saved our son's life. He also performed a two hour surgery on my mother when she had a dangerous gallbladder infection. He operated on my husband, as well, removing a mass that appeared to be cancerous. We are just one family touched three times by the God given talent of Dr. Christopher Haughn. We are forever grateful and offer our prayers for your family.

I am very saddened to hear the community lost such a well-respected physician. Dr. Haughn was hands down my favorite surgeon. I know he is Dr Haughn to so many....but to me, he is Chris, Mia's dad. Chris has always been a portrait of class, humility, sympathy, and humor in every conversation we ever had.
He will be missed by the community to be certain; those of us that have only been friends in passing grieve with the Haughns today and forever.
Mia is one of my favorite people on the planet. The traits that make it so, are due in no small part to her parents. They are wonderful people, whom I will always value, in life and in death.
Gone but never forgotten.
Love and Condolences,
