Dan is so missed by everyone. I sure miss playing pinball with him at Zorba's at E. Main St. and James Rd. He was such a great person on television and in person. RIP Dan.

I worked with Dan for many years. A very sweet, kind, gentle man. Flippo used to say he drove to work without wearing his pants, the crease was so neat when he came in the bldg that he put them on as he exited his car!!!!

December 12, 2017

I saw a post on FB that reminded me of Columbus in the old days. So I checked on Dan's name for a spelling. I didn't expect to find an obit. As flippo always called him the "Kid". I'm very sorry to learn of his passing, his name was always with Flippo, Wayne B. and the other Channel 10 gang!

I am so sorry to hear of Dan Imel's passing. I just found out this morning he passed. Back in the late 70's, once or twice a week my husband and I used to play pinball with him. He was a wonderful and kind person. He will be missed.

I just found the Columbus Dispatch posting of Mr. Imels obituary. I am very sad to learn of his death and wish the family the best. I remember Mr. Imel on the Flippo show in Columbus but even more so his " High Road To Adventure" show. I watched the show with devotion in the late 60's in my pre-teen years. I still remember it and credit it for my interest in history and travel. I am thankful for him and his pursuits. I remember Mr. Imel as a kind, intelligent, thoughtful person. God bless the famil.

Cindy, I can't express the loss I feel with Dan's passing. Of course, I too remember him on television growing up. Our friendships go back 36 years when Dan hired me to be his manager at Dan Imel's World of Travel and you working next door in our building. Working for Dan was a wonderful experience that turned into a wonderful friendship. He became "Uncle Dan" to my sons. They still remember the cookouts at our house with him there. We remember the Columbus Clippers Baseball games together with my family. What fun we had. Now 36 years later, I'm still working at the travel agency he started. Yes it has had a couple of different names since he left Ohio, but our friendship and memories have remained forever. I remember all the good, sad and difficult times we have shared over the years. Even after you and Dan moved a couple of different times he NEVER forgot my birthday. His birthday card was always the 1st one I received. When I didn't recieve one this month, I told my husband something was wrong. Then I received your phone call and knew. I'm so glad we talked and shared. My thoughts and prayers will always be with you Cindy. I will miss my friend deeply. May God continue to wrap His arms around you and give you comfort.

I was fortunate to be able to work with Dan for many years while at WBNS TV. We beacame good friends and did a lot of things together away from the station. I missed him when he decided to move to Arizonia then Georga but we tried to keep in touch. WE always had a great time doing the Early Show with FLIPPO.
I was sorry to hear about his illness.
I have known other friends go through the same horrible fight. I hope he did not have to suffer too long.
That's about from me except that I send
my best to who is out there and wish we
could roll back the calendar a couple of years.

Dan & I were friends since childhood growing up in Indiana. We first visited a radio station while in high school. We both became hooked on broadcasting. As a DJ, in the late 50's, Dan was the "Dick Clark" of central IN. A super talent and a good friend. I shall miss him.

High Road to Adventure, The Evening News,The Evening Movies, Flippo and the hallway and control room conversations, will always be remembered. Who can forget the Eager One Lawnmower commercials and all the other live insert commercials that Dan handled so well. Dano was a class act, sincere and a great joy to work with. In the era of live TV Dano excelled.

I had the distinct privilege of working with Dan for several years; some of the most fulfilling of my career. Those were halcyon days at Channel 10, and Dan was a significant contributor to what was once one of the finest local television efforts in the Nation. A great sense of humor, an absolutely professional work ethic, and abundant talent all combined to create a man with whom everyone liked to work. More importantly, he was a decent, honorable and caring human being. Dan, not to worry . . . the Celestial Milk Truck awaits and so does the Clown!
