Phil:
I had a weak feeling inside when I read the story in the paper. I was hoping it wasn't your daughter, but unfortunately it was. They say that our greatest hopes and worst fears are seldom realized, but in this case they were. I wish you and your family the love and strength to survive this terrible event. I always admired the relationship you and your children had and hope that, along with wonderful memories, will guide you through this. I am thinking of you often and sending my prayers and best wishes.

Dear Bess, Dub and Phil,
I remember Emma has a sweet little kindergartner at Wilson Hill, eager to learn and make friends. My heartfelt condolences to all of you. May God's peace be with you.

Dear Mr. Stanger, Bess, and Dub,
We spent many summers with Emma at Brookside. She taught my youngest son, Owen, how to swim and was his coach on the swim team. Emma was very special to Owen and our family loved and admired her. Emma was a wonderful young woman...beautiful, smart, and kind. I was so excited that she pledged Kappa Alpha Theta for I am a Theta too. We will miss Emma so much and our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

To Mr. Stanger, Bess and Dub,
We are so sorry for the loss of Emma. She was such a wonderful young lady. We spent many summers with her at Brookside.....she taught my youngest to swim two summers ago. Emma was always sweet and always smiling! I talked to her frequently about University of Chicago as we spent four years in Hyde Park, too. She loved Chicago and spoke about how proud her dad was of her attending the University. We were all so saddened to hear the news of her passing. May God, prayer, family and friends help you through this terribly tragic, painful time. Please know that you and your family, as well as Emma, are in our thoughts and prayers.
