Evelyn Benge Obituary
1938 - 2018
Evelyn Benge, age 79, passed away January 6, 2018 at Grace Ridge Retirement Community, in Morganton, North Carolina after a long illness. Evelyn was born in New Albany, Indiana to Emmett and Ruth Smeathers Whittinghill on October 13, 1938. She graduated with honors from New Albany High School in 1956. She lived in Indianapolis, Indiana and Columbus, Ohio before her move to North Carolina. She was a long time member of Indianola Church of Christ in Columbus, Ohio and volunteered for the church and numerous organizations while raising her children. She loved spending time with loved ones, appreciated art, nature and enjoyed word games with family. She is preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters and 3 brother and son Doug Benge. Evelyn is survived by loving husband, Bill Benge, children, Dee Benge, Jenny (Robert) Kent, Brenda (Andy) Stone, Jeff (Jena) Benge, Leslie (John) Kohlman;18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 10 am at Indianola Church of Christ, 2141 Indianola Av, Columbus, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the nonprofit organization founded by Evelyn's granddaughter, Hannah Arrowood: Present Age Ministries, PO Box 700, Harrisburg, NC 28075, www.presentageministries.org. Evans Funeral Service Lenoir.

Aunt Evelyn such a sweet,caring & loving lady.whom will be missed dearly by all that loved her !She passed on my birthday and I shall always remember her as loving ,kind and wonderful lady that is she !Until we meet again fly high Aunt Evelyn !
