Gerald Frey Obituary
1937 - 2021
Gerald, known to family and friends as Ted, passed away at home on February 2, 2021. He was born September 27, 1937 and spent his entire life in the Columbus, Ohio area. After graduating from Linden McKinley High School in 1956, he married his high school sweetheart and they were married for 50 years until her passing in 2007. He was proud of his 40+ year career with American Electric Power, formerly known as Columbus & Southern Ohio Electric Company. Ted was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Clara Frey, his wife Susan Ann (Woodruff) Frey, and brothers Stan and John Frey. He is survived by two daughters, Katherine Hagmeier and Kris (Paul) Smith; and 3 grandchildren, Emily and Andrew Hagmeier and Carly Smith. Ted enjoyed maintaining his home and car, his many DIY projects and gardening. The family would like to thank the staffs of Fresenius Kidney Care-New Albany and Comfort Keepers for their kind assistance and care. Due to COVID precautions, a private funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Cat Welfare Association, 741 Wetmore Rd., Cols., OH 43214. www.catwelfareassoc.org. Services entrusted to SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON, 6699 N. Ted was a mentor for me during my early years at Columbus & Southern in the early and mid 1970’s. He was very patient and encouraging. I never heard Ted say anything negative about anyone. He always seemed to find the ‘good side’ of everyone. Rest In Peace my friend.
