Hugh Burkley "BURK" Showe, of Upper Arlington, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving wife, Peg, and family on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. He was born to the late Hugh & Irene Showe in Kenton, Ohio on February 18, 1929. Burk was Valedictorian of his class at Aquinas High School. He attended The Ohio State University and was a member of ROTC. After college, Burk enlisted in the Air Force which began his life- long passion for flying. With his children and "family" of associates at his side, Burk created and nurtured a thriving real estate development, construction, investment and management corporation with property locations from coast to coast. Many decades ago, Burk discovered New Mexico and Hawaii and thus began his curious attire of aloha shirts, bolo ties and cowboy hats. His stories were grand and jokes slightly rated. He always enjoyed a fresh audience and was quick to pass out a $2 bill, a can of macadamia nuts, a Showe knife, stingray wallet, or koa wood pen to those that he met. Burk adored his family and enjoyed sharing his interest in boating, flying, fishing, snow skiing and scuba diving with them. His summers were shared with family and friends at Bar Harbor on the shores of Lake Erie. In addition to his parents, Burk was preceded in death by his former wife, Phyllis "Kitt" Showe and son, Burkley D. Showe. He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peg" Showe; his loving children, Hugh (Heidi Koch fiancé) Showe and the mother of his children, Candace Showe, Kevin ( Patty) Showe, David Showe and his former spouses, Nancy Showe and Lisa Showe, Eric ( Debbie) Showe, Miriam Reed and the father of her child, Richard Reed, Andrew ( Melissa) Showe, and Christopher Peterson; former daughter-in law, Molly Broughton; grandchildren, Carrie ( Kevin) Rohyans, Alexis Paige ( Derek) Rogers, Lauren Showe, Cassandra (Tyler) Lucks, Burkley Gannon Showe, Ashley Showe, Gannon David Showe, Hugh Burkley ( Chynna) Showe III, Colin Showe, Diandra Showe, Carson Showe, Kirsten Showe, Austin Burkley Reed, Harrison Showe, Blake Showe, Pierce Showe, Emma Showe, and Victoria Showe; great-grandchildren, Kevin Dylan Rohyans, Walker Lucks, Charlotte Rogers, Poppy Lucks, Mackenzie Lucks, Wake Lucks, Wylie Lucks, Bodi Showe and extended family members and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 10 am at Our Lady of Victory Church, 1559 Roxbury Road, Columbus, Ohio with a celebration of life luncheon immediately following at The Worthington Inn, 649 High Street, Worthington, Ohio. Burke was a great friend and wonderful mentor. From the first time I met him we hit it off on the right foot. We both liked to fly and believed in hard work and hard play. I was about 24 years old. Boating was also our passion. And of course we both loved Lake Erie. Going to the lake and decompressing from the time we left Columbus to Monday morning you could feel your blood pressure going down. I will miss Burke a lot it was always fun to run new ideas across him. Burke would always come up with another way to look at the situation. Opened my eyes a few times and took another look at the problem at hand. It ended up that Burke let me take over the hanger and offices at OSU - he was the longest renter of hanger space at OSU. We still have our planes there. Andrew's Piper Navajo and my Beech Baron 58P and Piper Warrior. Over the years the whole family have become great friends. All of his sons believed like we believed hard work and hard play. Hopefully I'll see you in heaven, I don't think I could take the heat. Love, Bruce

My condolences to the Showe family at this time of loss. I first met Mr Showe in the 1980's and will always have good memories of him. To this day, I still have the "Showe knife" that he gave me as a young man. May he rest in peace in the arms of our Lord.

Your Dad will be greatly missed, He was always kind and a mentor to so many. We love the Worthington Inn, and pleased when Burk, purchased and updated the Inn. My family always enjoyed our many dinners and weddings at the Inn especially on St. Pats Day playing my Bagpipes.

My condolences to all of the Showe Family. I had the pleasure of meeting Burke years ago when we did the electrical wiring on his house in Bar Harbor. He treated me like gold and it was a pleasure to work with him. He is a model of success and I will always remember the time I spent with him in Bar Harbor.
