We still can't believe that Dr. Edwards is gone. He was our vet since moving to Worthington in 1983. He treated every pet as though they were the most important one in the world. As we were contemplating putting our dog to sleep he shared with me the pain of losing his two labs. What a wonderful doctor and human being he was!! We hope he is surrounded by all the animals he so lovingly attended. Dr. Edwards and his staff have gone above and beyond to give our pets good care and help US through the hard times. We will miss him greatly. We want to express our deep sympathy to his family.

When I visited Columbus in the summers as a kid the twins would take me under their wing - or at least as much as teenagers and big OSU students would take a 7-yr younger cousin under their wings. Jimmy and his twin introduced me to model trains, canoeing and kayaking, Frisbees, and back-yard whiffle baseball. Until I learned to swim they had to take me to the pool on Valleyview Dr and watch over me. The summer family reunions have always been fond memories. When possible, Jimmy would show me around his frat house, the OSU Vet School, and occasionally take me along on his mosquito spraying summer-job runs. He lives on in all our memories.

Jim was a great help to my family. He cared for and saved many of our pets. He even was kind enough to come to the house to put my sisters dog Zack down.
He was a role model and mentor to my sister, Linda, prior to her death.
Jim was a wonderful man and we are sad to learn of his passing.

We all will miss Jim. He was a role model for all of us in Veterinary Medicine. I worked under his direction in the beginning of CVES. He was a great leader with lots of patience, and perserverence. He was a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. The world and Veterinary Medicine is better, much better because of Jim Edwards.

It is hard to type after reading all these great sentiments. Dr. Edwards has been our family vet for almost 40 years. For the last 3, he has been Jake's vet (my 100lb lab), and although I live 12 hours away, I would still schedule his regular exams in Linworth because Dr. Edwards loved him so much and just had a God given gift with animals.

Amy and family - I'm so sorry about your loss, but what an incredible Dad. You should be so proud of him. His love and passion will continue on in all these great pets.

Linworth Staff - Again, so sorry. His love and legacy lives in all of you too!

Linworth was the animal hospital that I chose when I moved my cat to Columbus in 1996. I chose it because it was close to my residence, but stayed because of the wonderful care by Dr. Edwards and his staff. He always came in the exam room with a big smile, and you could tell that he cared for each animal as if they were his own. I remember Eddie, the office cat, who looked so much like my Simba, that I thought he was Simba when I arrived to pick Simba up after surgery. No wonder "Simba" ignored me that day! Dr. Edwards will be truly missed. It is amazing how many lives he touched, and how talented he was in many areas. What a remarkable, wonderful man. God bless your family during this time of loss.

With the passing of time we slowly become aware that the only things of value that truly endure are memories, and our influence on the accomplishments of others.

I am sorry for your loss.

July 19, 2007

Dr. Edwards was a mentor to my father, Richard Atkinson. They remained friends ever since they worked together in vet school. I remember going to the Edwards house when I was little to play with his daughters, especially jumping on the trampoline they had in their back yard. My father passed away in January and now that Dr. Edwards has passed, there are alot of animals and their owners who are sad without the wonderful care that both of them provided to their patients. My thoughts are with thye entire family right now as they go through the grieving process.

It was truly an honor to have known a man with such kindness and compassion for animals. He was my vet for over 10 years. His love for animals is the reason why I named one of my cats after him.
