This is a photo of Keith's mother-Lavone. She was a major influence on his life by getting him to go to college and train as a vocalist in the School of Music. Ssdly she passed away very early in Keith's life. Hopefully, they are reunited now.

Keith,

You always did such a nice job on my hair. I remember you fixing my perm for me after I had a beauty school dropout do it when I was in middle school, even though you had advised me not to get a perm in the first place. Thanks for your generosity, allowing me to come over to your house because you were booked at work, braiding my hair before I went to China. It was nice having you as a beautician, and as a friend. I will miss you.

Many years of many memories--picnics and dinners with Keith and Mark, Keith trying to manage my difficult hair and doing it beautifully and many conversations about many things. Life and death move together and we try to keep up with both. Safe passage!

KEITH,
I'll surely miss our little
talks when you did my hair or I got
you on the phone. We had Dr. Mark in common. We both love him, I as a Mom and best friend, you as a life long other half. I will keep and eye on him for you just as I tried to do for so many years.

I remember when Doug Brockman got out of the hospital last month, and heard the news, his first reaction (from his wheelchair!) was that he should go to Columbus to help Dr. Mark. Of course, having my "problem child" (Keith's term) decend on the Midwest in a weakened state seemed a poor idea, so I encouraged him to get stronger and visit in the spring. (Sadly now, that's not to be.)

I recall this story just to let people know that out of sight is *not* out of mind, and we in San Diego thought a lot about you folks in the colder climates... I know if Doug was still here, he would still be a mixture of problem child and wanting to help, but would certainly want me to send my love (and his love!) to you all. Doug and Keith will blaze a trail that, someday, all of us will follow. I'm sure it will be well-marked with such trailblazers to guide us!

Goodbye Keith,
Death will not be a barrier between us-it is as if you have never left me behind.
I am so full of beautiful and happy memories that whenever I want to talk to you or laugh again I can reminisce or sleep and dream and you will be with me again and again.

Don't worry about me,I am never really alone. Our spirits are bonded and I will survive with my memories of you. Your gift to me was unconditional love and my life kept always in perspective.

Thank you for 30 wonderful and exciting years together.

Your life partner,
Dr. Mark

Doc I was sadden and shocked to learn of the passing of Keith. What a beautiful smile he had and such a warm sweet spirit. Although I no longer live in the neighborhood my memories of Keith will be cutting the grass and drinking a cup of coffee on those warm and sunny days. Keith is resting in God's arms now. It is my prayer that God will comfort and keep you in your time of sorrow. Peace & Love to you!
