While we rarely intermingled the lives our families brought together in our youth, cousin Leonard, we traveled parallel paths even through our terminal degrees.

On October 8th of this year 2009, we both, from different places, looked down the now diverging paths as far as we could. You from the end of your battle with cancer, me from the by-pass surgery table with heart stopped for the work. You took one path and I the other, both paths being just as fair.

There is nothing really different about these paths they will re-converge in the not distant future. Our legacies are in what we leave behind.

I was a classmate of Len's in grade school and high school in Wakeman. This goes back a long time! My dad also worked for Leonard Gerber. I wish I had known him more in our adult lives, as we would have had lots in common again! My husband and I are in the dental field also, my love is in Periodontics.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. You and the entire family are in my thoughts.
I was one of Len's classmates at Wakeman HS and also remember him as a smart and humorous friend. We had our 50th reunion in June 2008 and Len came there after going to his "other" reunion at New London. It was great to talk to him and the rest of my former classmates too. He achieved some major accomplishments in his life and will be missed by many.

I have years and years and years of memories of Dr Ebel with our family from birthday events to vacations.I remember him driving us around in his car so we could actually use his new "car phone" and I'll always remember being amazed he had a phone in the car!! He helped me through a few flights, since I was scared to fly, talking me through all the airplane noises. He definitely got my mind off of one flight in particular by telling me allll about his music lessons ;) I remember him trying to teach us about being hypnotized and all we did was laugh. He captured the video of my wedding as I walked down the aisle, unbeknownst to me. I am so grateful he thought to do that, as we had no one in that role. He was present at my parents' house for so many years since I was a child and he was almost like a part of the family. It will not be the same without him. My sympathies to his family.....

Dr. Ebel was a dear friend who could always cheer me up. I called him recently for that reason. It had been a couple of years since we'd spoken, and I'm so glad I called him, even though it was not the conversation I'd hoped to have. I am so sad to lose him as a friend.

My deepest sympathy goes out to his family at this difficult time. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. I regret that I will not be able to pay my respects in person as my husband is in the hospital at this time.

Len was our neighbor on Neil Avenue until we moved last year. He was always so pleasant and kind, even taking the time to help me shovel a snowy walk, despite physical problems of his own. We were fortunate to see him briefly in June when we were in town. He'll be missed.

I was a classmate of Len's in Wakeman. I remember him as a funny, friendly, happy-go-lucky guy. Even though he graduated from New London, he came to our 50th class reunion in Wakeman. I am grateful for the chance to talk with him then. You have my sympathy; he fought a brave fight.

Sincerely,
