Marilyn Orlando Obituary

Orlando Marilyn C. Orlando, passed away May 17, 2016, after a long and hard battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents Joseph and Helen Krejci and her brother Norman (Agnes) Krejci. She loved her family more than anything: her son, Dean (Beryl) Orlando of Austin, Texas; daughters, Lori (Byron) Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sharon (Frank) Morris of Denver, Colorado; and five wonderful grandchildren, Dr. Erica (Jason) Barnes, Tennessee, Dr. Kristen Smith, Georgia, Craig Smith, Ohio, Russell Morris, Japan and Timothy Morris, Colorado. She will be deeply missed by her family and close dear friends, Sherri and Greg Finley of Dublin, Dolores Morris of Columbus, Ohio; and her cousin, Sharon and John Stanonis of Auburn Township, Ohio. Marilyn retired from The Ohio State University in 2001. She worked for 10 years at NCRVE (the National Center for Research in Vocational Education) and 23 years at the University Main Library. She was an active member of the Dublin Seniors and served on their board. She was an avid traveler and was fortunate enough to travel all over the world. She made friends where ever she went and was loved by so many. Special thanks to the wonderful people at the Ohio Health Hospice and Kobacker House for their compassion, lovely personalities, and assistance in helping Marilyn through this awful disease. There will be a Celebration of Marilyn's life starting at 12 noon-2 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Claremont Retirement Village, 7041 Bent Tree Blvd., Columbus, OH 43235. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to The Ohio State University Libraries (Friends of the Library), 305H Thompson Library, 1858 Neil Avenue, Columbus, OH, 43210; Hospice at Ohio Health or or Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus, OH 43214, (https://foundation.ohiohealth.com/programs/hospice-giving).
