Paul Brusky Obituary

BRUSKY Paul D. Brusky, 60, of Columbus, OH, died Monday, June 27, 2011 at Kobacker House. He was a graduate of Illinois Benedictine, now Benedictine University, in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry, previously a graduate of Brother Rice High School in Chicago, IL. He was a biochemist at Roxane-Laboratories Boehringer Ingelheim and worked his entire career in the pharmaceutical industry. Paul won an award from the Associated Chicago area colleges for his presentation on his senior college thesis. Shortly after graduating from Illinois Benedictine, he came to the Ohio State University where he met his devoted wife, Phyllis, through the Chemistry department. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his daughter, Anna (Christopher) Kreider; and his son, Alan. He is also survived by his brothers, John (Carole) Brusky, Robert (Mary) Brusky; and his sister, Ellen Brusky; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Louise Bean. Paul enjoyed bicycling with his family including tours of Wisconson, Ohio, and many fun rides with extended family at the Hancock Horizontal Hundred (Findlay, Ohio). He achieved the level of second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do with his daughter Anna and enjoyed working with younger students in class. He was also an avid gardener and an amateur photographer. He used his abilities to record fun events for family and friends as well as producing a video for his daughter's 2002 wedding. While battling multiple myeloma, he continued to be active to the extent possible in outside interests, including volunteering for the local United Way settlement house, participating in a Relay For Life fundraiser, and attending mass at Immaculate Conception Parish. He was preceded in death by his parents John W. And Julie Marie Brusky and his father-in-law Homer Bean. Visitation will be held at SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME in Worthington, Thursday, June 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial Mass will be at Immaculate Conception Parish on Friday, July 1 at 11 a.m. Condolences may be left online at schoedinger.com.
