Ralph E. Driscoll

DRISCOLL Ralph E. Driscoll (Uncle Weird), age 57, passed peacefully on July 30, 2005. Even though Ralph was diagnosed as having the final stages of cancer in late November, he fought a courageous battle to the very end. Ralph was born at White Cross Hospital in Columbus. He was the eldest of 3 children born to Walter E. and Susan L. (nee Climer) Driscoll. Ralph grew up in the north-end of Columbus. He was a 1966 graduate of Brookhaven High School. He often spoke of how much he enjoyed "hanging out and working" in his father's T.V. & Appliance "Repair" store and what a "great" cook his mother was. He was formerly married to Sylvia "Cookie" Hetrick. Their marriage produced two wonderful children. Ralph is preceded in death by his loving parents, grandparents, "best" friend "Marty" Hoffman and beloved pet "Midnight". Ralph is survived by his loving companion of 8 years, Carla Thompson; his children, Lynn L. Driscoll of Alabama and James V. Driscoll of New Mexico and his "second daughter", Jennifer Thompson; grandchildren, Hope Driscoll, Matthew and Danny Driscoll of New Mexico; sister and brother-in-law, Theresa "Terri" and Gary Wyatt of Indiana and brother, Michael Driscoll; extended family of a nephew and several nieces. beloved pets, "Sleepy Dog" and "Garfield"; as well as a host of dear friends. Ralph's two greatest passions were motorcycles and computers. Ralph was an avid motorcyclist for many years and was well respected by many of his "brothers and sisters" in the motorcycle circles throughout the United States. Ralph was an active member of 21 years in 12 step fellowship programs. Ralph was a strong, active supporter of the "Pre-Thanksgiving Day" dinner held annually at St. Aloysius Church. Special love and appreciation to Cindy Obert, Andy and Donnie Maynard, Mayday, Barb Tracy, Mark Radvege, "Junior" and Margie Climer for their assistance, support and love during these difficult months. Family and friends will be received Thursday 1-3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m., at GRAUMLICH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., Rev. Dr. William L. Snider officiating.
