Ronald Gooslin Obituary

GOOSLIN Ronald Kinzer Gooslin, age 81, Thursday, May 24, 2012 at his residence. Assistant Administrator in Columbus Public Schools until his retirement in 1990. Graduate of Pikeville College Academy. Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (math major) Pikeville College 1957. He then taught in Bradenton, FL before getting his masters degree in Curriculum and Supervision from The Ohio State University in 1965. Taught math at Mantee High School (Bradenton, FL) 1957-1962, Virge High School (KY) 1962-1963, West High School 1963-1968, administrator Media Jr. High School 1968-1979, Briggs High School 1979-1987, East High School 1987-1990. Member Brookwood Presbyterian Church where he served on the Board of Trustees, Session, Elder, Choir and various committees. Also a member of Sunrise Lodge #783 F&AM, Kiwanis Club. Veteran Korean War USAF as an MP. After retirement he volunteered at Capital University Library from 1991-2009 and at Brookwood Presbyterian Church from 2009. Avid reader, gardener, and loved to spend time at his cottage at Platte Lake, Northern Michigan. He loved to see his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews grow up. Survived by wife, Susan Howard Gooslin; step-sons, Heber (Joelle) Howard, Dax (Lori) Howard; grandchildren, Cassidy, Carlie, Max, Maci, Gage, Tanner, Jenna, Evan, and Jake; sisters-in-law, Hilda Gooslin of Dayton, Marilyn (Russ) McClure of Scottsdale, AZ, Nancy Dolph of Northern, MI; nephew, Jim (Pam) Gooslin of Virginia Beach and their children, Jeremy and Rachel; niece, Scelese Swinderman of Dayton and her children, Heath, Hailey and Patrick; many other loving nieces, nephews and their families. Preceded in death by wife Helen Gooslin, son Ronald K. Gooslin, Jr., parents Opal and Eulalee Gooslin, step-mother Gladys Gooslin and beloved brother Donald Charles Gooslin. Friends may call Saturday 5-7 p.m., EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave. Funeral service Sunday 3 p.m., Brookwood Presbyterian Church, 2685 E. Livingston Ave. Pastor John Birkner officiating. Ron was Assistant Principal when I taught at Briggs. He was responsible for getting me in to the guidance department, a position I held, and loved, for 14 years until my retirement. I remember him with gratitude.

Aunt Susan,
Losing Uncle Ron is surely a huge loss for us, but a giant gain for Heaven. His lively and full life left us all with many, many treasured memories. He will never be forgotten.
