Ruth Westbrook Obituary
1929 - 2018
Ruth Eleanor (Sinnett) Westbrook, age 89, peacefully departed this earth on May 8, 2018 at St. Ann's Hospital.
Ruth was born in Buffalo, NY on January 10, 1929. She now joins her husband Herschel, her parents Ralph and Mernie Sinnett of Delaware, OH and her sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Richard Harshman of Clemson, SC, sister-in-law Ruthanna Heselton and brother-in-law Charles Parks. She is survived by her children, Mark (Mary) Westbrook of Pataskala, OH and Karen (Keith) Sheumaker of Columbus, OH. Ruth took great pride in her grandchildren, Melissa (Tommy) Harmon, April (Travis) Corsell, Jason (Sarah) Westbrook, Jonathan Westbrook, and Angela (Joel) Beebe. She delighted in her great-grandchildren, Tyler Harmon, Vincent, Valentino, and Nina Braccio, Tristan, Tredan, and Tobias Westbrook, Ezra Beebe. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Loren Heselton; sister-in-law, Margaret Parks; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Ruth was a school secretary for 28 years for Columbus City Schools and a long time secretary of The Columbus Chippers Woodcarving Club. She and Hersh participated in many out of town carving shows as well as here in Columbus. Family will receive friends from 6-7 pm on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43231, where a funeral service will begin at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's memory to Ohio Wesleyan University, Chemistry Dept., 61 S. Sandusky St., Delaware, OH 43015. Hello! I was driving past the old Huy Rd. elementary school site a few days ago, and wondered what had become of one of my Favorites school secretaries who always answered the phone, "Hello! This is Mrs. Westbrook speaking." She was always a delight and I enjoyed our times together at Huy, and then at Northgate. (I was what was called a "field librarian" for 20 years, and Huy was one of my schools.) I'm so sorry for your loss. This is a very late condolence message, but I wanted you to know that I always thought your mom was a very special person.

Mark, Mary, Jason and Sarah and the rest of the Westbrook family, We are sorry for your loss and apologize for not being able to attend the visitation. Your mom/grandmother Ruth was a joy to be around and we sure enjoyed her company the few times we were together, with all of her Buckeye spirit!! Ruth will meet her Buckeye heroes in Heaven now. On behalf of the students, faculty, and administration of Saint Francis DeSales High School please accept our condolences on your loss.
Saint Francis DeSales High School was enriched by Ruth's efforts when she served as a Guidance Department Secretary. Her care for the students , teachers , counselors and administrators was apparent to all. Her smile and laughter were contagious.
While losing a wonderful Mother, Grandmaother, and friend is painful - please find joy in your memories and know that you have a Guardian Angel in heaven.
