Margaret (Margie) White Kelley

Born in 1945, Margaret (Margie) White Kelley of Troy, Alabama, passed away on July 12, 2021. Her lifetime passion was reading, and she turned that into a career when she graduated with a library science degree from Auburn University. She was an avid college football fan and could often be heard cheering for her beloved Auburn Tigers. She also enjoyed connecting with old friends on Facebook. She was an educator and worked for the Troy City School System for over 25 years. As a member of the Troy Library Board, she worked diligently to ensure a new Troy Library building would provide a welcoming environment for all Troy residents to discover the love of books.

She married the love of her life, Phil Kelley, in 1992, and they were blissfully wed for the next 29 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Francis White; mother, Anne Napier White; and son, David Paul Anderson.

She is survived by her husband, Phil Kelley; daughters, Pam Maloney of Fairhope, Alabama, and Penny Jackson (Judd) of Miramar Beach, Florida; and grandsons, Ashton Maloney, Spencer Jackson, and Parker Jackson.

Services will be held Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with The Reverend Thack Dyson, Reverend Steve Winton, and Reverend Doc Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
